How does one distinguish between an original (or at least early) pressing of the German 10" release "Beat Beat Beat", from the many bootlegs that have popped up over the years? Thanks for any info that anyone can provide.
Yeah, thanks Rockman, I have that info. I was thinking more along the lines of wonky stuff that bootlegs do or get wrong; like perhaps, no matrix etchings in the dead wax, less-than-sharp cover photos, misaligned text on cover or label, etc. I'm looking for red flags.
The bootleg labels are dull. The original has a deep wine red and brilliant gold lettering. Even it's dulled with age in some cases it's easy to spot. The LP sleeve has a semi-gloss sheen and is very thin. Love this record, it's one of my favorites. Hope this helps. Good luck hunting.
3 different original ones and as frankotero pointed out, the machine stamped matrix is the best proof.
The counterfeits are having the guitar-intro version of "Time Is On My Side" and (I hope I don't confuse things) the last track on both sides is truncated.
