Why didn't Taylor join this tour? I'm sure they would have sold even more tickets then.

this (2019) or that (2017) tour? MT was member of the blues breakers more 35 years ago. only MT himself and John Mayall know why and why not. but, we never know, maybe MT will appear as a surprise guest on stage? i will be able to enjoy the show with or without MT.

According to Mathijs, Mick Taylor has retired. Sad news if this is true.

It would be very sad.

His decision of course ...and touring's not always a lot of fun on a journeyman budget

...but with many old musicians having to retire because they can't play well enough any more it seems such a waste when MT's playing skills are still of a very high order.

[If he doesn't need it any more, perhaps he could post me his talent ? winking smiley]

Saw John Mayall at the Iridium in NYC a couple of years ago. Was a fun concert.

I saw John Mayall/Bluesbreakers reunion tour back in '82 with Mick Taylor and John McVie at the Roxy in L.A. - stunning show.
Also back in 2003 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam with Buddy Whittington on lead guitar - while he's no MT, it was still a damn great show.
Saw a few recent video's of John Mayall, and while I wouldn't go too far out of my way to see him at this point, I would still love to see him out of respect....85 years! thumbs up

So apparently he tours just as a trio now, no more lead guitarist ? I really don't know his stuff but considering catching him in Paris on Thursday. Will try to find some recent videos.

He has a new lead guitarist, who also has a voice like Janis Joplin- It's Carolyn Wonderland. I'm looking forward to Ronnie Scotts

I saw JM with Buddy Wittington around 2004 or 2005 in falls church virginia. Me and wife were in parking lot and up comes Buddy Wittington driving John in the back and John was nice and I gave him so space and a few minutes later he signed my crusade jacket - the concert was intimate a small venue and was awesome if you like the English blues.

It was a great show, so glad I went !
Amazing what the guy can do at his age, you really forget how old he is really, it's just great music and in such a good spirit.

Exactly!

He's still alive, so it's a birthday.

Unless it's the 85th Anniversary of his career...

John Mayall calls it a day on touring and cancels all the shows of his 2022 tour. Says he'll only be performing around California where he lives and occasionally a bit further around.

Glad I caught him two years ago at the Bataclan for what was a great show !

"Blues From Laurel Canyon" is totally underrated. Great concept, Mick Taylor is on fire. Right up there with Beano and Hard Road. A must have.
