I certainly don't want to be the "get off my lawn" grouchy old man, but man, wasn't being a child in the 60's and a teenager in the 70's great?!?

Brian 77, wow!

He was such a HUGE part of the Stones in their formative years. Hope he has found his peace.

I may be in the minority but to me the Stones really took off creatively when Brian was put aside (BB and the following albums).
Of course the BJ era created some lovely music.

Brian was not "put aside" and he he plays on 8 or so tracks on Beggars Banquet, on A and B side of JJF, then there's the ace cover of Still A Fool... The music from 1968 is very much part of his era.

I try to understand what you are saying, but creativity either grows or dies out (the latter happens to the fast majority of musicians in the end). The Stones' developing creativity after the Brian Jones era could only happen because it was formed in the sixties. The "tough competition" in those days "pushed" many musicians (not only the Stones) to great highs. Many of the sixties musicians finally ended up in a creativeness black hole.
Maybe due to Brian's death, there "was no way back" anymore for Mick and Keith. Maybe something similar happened to the guys from Pink Floyd after Syd had faded out?
Mick and Keith wrote great songs during Brian's days, but in early interviews they quite respectfully spoke of Brian's creative input then ...

Happy Birthday to Brian. A troubled soul in his last few years but such a talented soul as well.

Gone, but never forgotten in the legacy he left behind in his band, The Rolling Stones.

Looks like he got a good seat in the pit area, in front of the GA crowd. smiling smiley
