You Got Me Rocking guitar demo

To me, this sounds like Mick, not Keith, noodling around in Open G. What do you guys think?

That was pure fun. Thanks for posting.

I really loved that song back then and I still do.
My god, how young were were.

Definitely Keith here. You can hear Keith talking at the end of the song. Keith came up with the title and riff, while Mick wrote the verses.

"Keith is also great at phrases. You Got Me Rocking Now-that was his phrase and Mick finished it." - Chuck Leavell, June 1994

It's definitely You Got Me Rocking! Just an early dabbling of the main riff

Several versions on the Voodoo Stew/Brew boxsets....the long 10-11 minutes one is very groovy.

Why not? It's called a "DEMO" for a reason. It's Keith working on the riff you hear in the chorus, it's not supposed to sound like the finished song, thus why it's listed as a "guitar demo, KR only." It's from the Voodoo Lounge sessions bootleg "VOODOO STEW" on the second disc.

I gotta support Jordy here, this is YGMR. No doubt.

I know nothing of chord changes or any of that, but maybe someone who does can explain that. I'm just trying to explain that it's a guitar demo of You Got Me Rocking from Keith. A work in progress, very early stage of what was to come of the full song. Here's an instrumental of You Got Me Rocking I posted today. Listen to Keith's guitar during the chorus and compare it to the guitar demo. Parts of the guitar demo especially around 0:17, 0:26, 0:36 you can sing "You Got Me Rocking Now" in your head.

Hmmm, very interesting. Mick and Keith can sound very alike when it comes to guitar playing. Thanks for the info!! smileys with beer

cool. i love this stuff. It's like he's wandering around the mountain, getting hip to the
different trails...i'm gonna try to find the longer versions of k noodling
around in the studio working stuff up.
It's fun for me; I'm not expecting or anticipating a hook or anything produced.
or even that trademarked solid Stones groove, as he messes around w little figures and accents.
ty for posting it.

I have a few people, not all, but some people who LOVE to repeatedly say to me this is not a demo of YGMR. I GOT IT THE INFO FROM THE BOOTLEG VOODOO STEW AND ON NICO'S WEBSITE. It amazes me how rude some people can be, and again this is not speaking to all of you. Whether it is or not, we may never know. I changed the title of the video to "5-String Riffin'" and left it in the description as a possible guitar demo for YGMR. End of story. One person telling me I'm wrong is fine, but having almost 10 people tell me the SAME thing is obnoxious. I'm a 22 year old Stones fanatic, if I thought something was wrong with info, I'd change it but it amazes me some people on here and comments on my video who may be 20-30 years older than me can be RUDE as all hell. Calm down, it's a 1 minute video and it may be a mistake, get over it, move on, and keep rocking.
