They'll probably get Slipknot to open for them on all of the 16 shows...
Mick Thompson one of the band's axemen thinks EOMS is a masterpiece :

"The album I wish I made is…
The Rolling Stones – Exile On Main Street (Rolling Stones, 1972)

“Show me a better record top to bottom. Every song is amazing and it’s a double album so that’s a lot of amazing songs. It comes out firing and it’s untouchable. One of the greatest records ever.”

With such a statement no doubt Mick or Keef will pick this guy's band for the opening slot...

Drive-By Truckers or members (Hood, Isbell, etc.)

I love Jason Isbell, but he would set a pretty dark mood for the evening. Aside from Super 8 and Hope the High Road theres not many upbeat songs.

I'm also an Isbell fan. He's quite a good guitar player, writes lyrics as well as any singer-songwriter, and his band (the 400 Unit) frames his songs very well, especially live.

You're right, though, most of his takes on the human experience range from serious to sad to downright dark.

He loves the Stones, though.

I did see Gary Clark Jr on SNL...he's gotten very political which is fine with me as long as he opposes the current administration...as I'd imagine he might! He sounded good though. Mick likes him, already had him as an opener in 2013.
And YES, I meant MAGIC DICK when I referenced harp players/J Geils band. I see Zac Brown is the opener on April 24. That means more opening acts will be announced soon.

The Struts have opened for them over in Europe, and they are an awesome opening act! I think that they are in the U.S this spring/summer.

Cage the Elephant. And I actually thought they put on a good show. They're on the road this summer with Beck so I'm hoping they pop up for a show or two.

If Canada Rocks...

then I suggest April Wine and Pat Travers Band, or maybe even Tom Cochrane...

Checking band's itineraries, there are some big names that are off through that weekend, so we will see!

The grandson of Hank Williams Sr. puts on a kickass live show - would love to see him open for the Stones!

Yeah Rockman, I was thinking of that clip when I posted.
Some friends and I went to see him a few years ago at an outdoor all day multi-band fest up in the hills a few hours north of here.
Social Distortion was headlining, but Hank III and his band played just before them and tore the place down.
Social D. actually seemed tame in comparison which was surprising because I saw them live about 20 years ago and they were pretty darn good back then.

He's also released some 'extra chaotic heavy metal grungy noise music' (for lack of a better description...haha). Wasn't my cup of tea, but he's got a mind of his own and answers to nobody.
He's been a bit quiet the last couple of years...would be nice to hear some of that good old rebel music again.

___________________________________________________________________
ps- Forgot to mention, after his set he hung out with us and was down to earth and just like one of the boys.
I never seek autographs from anyone, but he was signing something for my friend, and I couldn't resist having him scribble his name on the t-shirt I was wearing - a big old 'Hank III' across the chest.

My ticket JUST ARRIVED by UPS 2 minutes ago so NOW I'm JAZZED!! When will they announce who the opening acts will be for each show? The last time I saw the Stones at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts Kanye opened for them and he was HORRIBLE! Was anyone else at that show...if so, what did YOU think? The show was amazing and included " SWAY" so my set list dream came true. PLEASE MICK, no RAP ARTISTS as openers this time around!

RAP = CRAP

Other than the Zac Brown Band opening in Jacksonville, odd that no more opening acts have been confirmed yet - some of the shows could use a boost in the sales department.
Maybe they're hoping HONK! will stir up more interest, but I'm curious as to who will be opening!

All shows except Glendale and Jacksonville sell very well, with well over 90% of the tickets sold to actual concert goers and the "official" resellers.
However the opening acts should be announced shortly.

honestly, I'd be happiest w/ no opening act.

Otherwise, why not let Bernard Fowler play some of his tunes w/ his band?
