No guests under 65! Elders only, no pop tarts.

Indeed...I hate 60 year old pop tarts

Leave Madonna alone!

Let's get Macca (older than 60) on Piano / vocals in stead of Chuck.
Chuck can be musical director under the stage - he can count 1, 2, 3 ..... 1, 2, 3 .... 1, 2, 3

I agree - no guests. They've had some good ones for sure but none of the ones I've seen ever added anything unmissable, with the exception of Buddy Guy. The OP gives a perfect example because Beast of Burden at Twickenham last year was indeed pretty much killed for me by the guest appearance (James Bay).

thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up

No more period. I paid $450,000 for one ticket to see the Stones

Sounds like that ticket was 449.500 overpriced! grinning smiley

You get my point. I really don’t want to spend $800 to see the stones and then have to watch grace potter sing gimme shelter. Or ed Sheeran sing beast of burden. I pay way to much for tickets to see the stones.

I think it depends on the guest and the song being played.
For example in 1989 John Lee Hooker and Eric Clapton were great guests and added a good vibe to the show.
In 1994 Cheryl Crow on the PPV was awful.
Same with most of the guests in 2012 they just didn't seem to fit in. Taylor Swift doing As Tears Go Bye was something I could have lived without and it definitely took away from the flow of the show. Like a speed bump in the fast lane.

Dave Matthews sucked on the songs he was on.

I guess they pull in the guests to help appeal to a new market. Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have huge social media followings but should NOT appear on stage with the Stones.

Agree somewhat. Their choice of guests in latter years have been so bad it's better to abstain from it. I get a feeling it's Jagger's grandchildren who call the shots here...

I still would love to see them with Marianne doin' "As Tears go by".

And yes I know: ... she's ill, her voice is shot, etc. etc.

Alas, it will never happen. But it's allowed to dream of.

how about this as a general rule: any guest who is an excellent instrumentalist is welcome, but no other guests please

Good thing that rule doesn't apply to the band. grinning smiley

Buddy seems to bring out the best in them. Love it when he guests.

Agree - they have to step up to his plate rather than visa versa.

Here are those setlists I scored from the 2013 Bay Area shows, showing the Tom Waits, Bonnie Raitt, and John Fohgerty guest spots.

Wise to be careful - there's watchdogs that take offense and lash out at any form of negativity against their masters.

If there has to be a guest, my only request is it's during one of their most boring warhorses...at least there would be something to break up the monotony.
