Please! No More Guests Onstage!

I was thinking about the last few times I saw the Stones and it just seemed like no big deal that they had a guest come up and do a song.
Katy Perry came out in Vegas and did beast of burden,John Meyer in L.A and in Dallas in 15 some blond girl I can’t remember.
Now like a lot of you I’ve seen the band many, many times. I saw them do Beast of Burden the first time in 78,so Katy Perry was fine.shes beautiful in person,Mick had fun and the crowd responded well.

But what if I had never seen them?what if Beast was one of my favorite songs and I’m some guy who had to save to see this concert, the distinctive guitar starts,Keith and Ronnie start weaving.....and then this pop tart comes out from backstage,it just kills part of the show.
I was watching four flicks awhile back, same thing.can you imagine your big chance to see them do honky Tonk and Cheryl Crow comes out?and she was horrible, yelling the lyrics, she was stiff as a board and couldn’t dance, awkwardly trying to create a chemistry with Mick.it looked like he was onstage with a coat rack.

Ditch the Rock and Roll fantasy camp guys, it’s not what we pay for and you can most definitely handle doing a show on your own.

Part of me wants to agree 100% with that ...

...but then perhaps its only a bit of fun really... and the guests will always really please a few of the audience, who are maybe big fans and might not have anticipated the bonus.

Buddy Guy gets a pass on this....

I was at Milwaukee for the Buddy Guy sit-in. It may be the only "Champagne and Reefer" I'll ever see the Stones perform, but he sure didn't ruin it.

I still get a kick out of Christina Aguilera's drop-in for "Live With Me" on the Shine A Light video. Best thing I've ever heard her do.

I'd like to see an Irma Thomas sit-in for "Time Is On My Side" in New Orleans.

Tom Waits was great on Little Red Rooster.

Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy and Tom Waits will pass. But generally, I'll prefer no guests.

Well on the one hand we pay to see the Stones not Lady Ga Ga , Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, on the other hand guests like Garry Clark Jr ( Respectable ) and Clapton ( little Red Rooster ) were great and as always Mick Taylor.
It depends on the guest i suppose and certainly not every night like it's been in recent years.

I think guest are somehow okay – but only in case they really enhance some blues songs (like Tom Waits, Buddy Guy, Clapton etc). But please no pop stars!

I agree - no guests. They've had some good ones for sure but none of the ones I've seen ever added anything unmissable, with the exception of Buddy Guy. The OP gives a perfect example because Beast of Burden at Twickenham last year was indeed pretty much killed for me by the guest appearance (James Bay).

I thought Mayer and Gary Clark jr on respectable (Brooklyn I think?) was a special treat personally. Like someone said..its rock n roll...its supposed to be fun.

Please!
No More Guests Onstage!

Unless it's someone I like...
then, of course, it's fine.

Some of the guests and the performances were really good.
A great guest for 1 song is ok to me.

I won't even have a problem with an album of those really nice co-operations.
Over the years there've been lots of good ones on different songs.
It's a long list.
And I've had enough of so-so live hit renditions.

Clapton on rooster, buddy guy on champagne and reefer are the exceptions that prove the rule

Dave matthews barfing all over memory motel, a truly great song, has to be the all time worst

Most of the time I enjoy when they have guests.
New Orleans has great potential for multiple guests!

New Orleans could be sick with Guests. Or maybe some Stones will do the guesting....thumbs up

Aaron Neville on Under the Boardwalk in Philadelphia 2013 was kinda aces! As someone noted above, Irma Thomas on Time Is on My Side could work.
