A bit more of an inside listen regarding what could've been an album... that, to me, wouldn't've been very good, regarding what was released, especially the 2 songs that aren't Don't Stop and Losing My Touch, whatever they're called, seem to be a general vibe of what they did having listened to When I Call Your Name and Love Is A Test.

Mick and Keith supposedly spent a little bit of time in Jamaica that spring working on material but it seems like it wasn't very productive, along with less than a month of the band recording.

Given that three of the FOUR NEW LICKS have pre-production credit to Matt Clifford, it would seem that the writing session at Point of View was where the embryonic version of "Trouble" and some of the other unfinshed ideas came from. For better or worse, they went with the ones that required the band to just overdub your part here and worried less about the ones that required more time to develop into something salvagable. It would take Steve Jordan and another decade before that would happen.

It's the Stones recording YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP. Great.

It's been out for a while, right?

It has, but I think it's "new" to Youtube. Always good to have it disseminated freely instead of enriching bootleggers.

Yeah it was shared here last here but yes, nice to see it available to everyone on YT. How things have changed since I paid through the nose for my first Stones boots in the summer of 1990, was worth every penny at the time though ;-)

Hilarious! Seems like Mick might've been a bit... he didn't get any songwriting credit for it on CROSSEYED HEART.

I never paid for boots just traded. One site I did it on was
Tapetraders.com, anyone know what happened to the site. Of course also traded here on iorr.

These aren't songs. They are very rough drafts, not ready to be heard by anyone but a few. Love Is a Test is probably inspired by the same person who inspired Losing My Touch, whose name is in When I Call Your Name. Nickname is Touch. Just speculating. Initials L. T. Coincidence? What year did they cover Love Train on tour?

love is a test is beautiful; i never heard it before this minute
and listening now. a wonderful gift, ty.

love is just a rumor i heard
love is a long, long word
why does it sound absurd
....

gorgeous stuff; nice groove, everyone's takin' it 'easy' sorta 'cruising' or
'rolling,' if you will...

leave me standing as a Stone...

....
never thought about it
now i can't live without it...
--------------------------------

mighty mighty fine...
i guess the comment about it being a 'sketch' kinda demo thing
is true, but maybe that's why they are not 'trying' to hard...
...?
sorta feeling each other out....their 'process' fascinates me anyway,
hwever they work it on any given song...
so there are rough unsteady little patches only here and there on guitar...

I've got no good opinion if 'this is good enough' as a 'finished' track
for proper release with editing or mixing...at the time...or ever...
...just dunno. but for me as a fan, getting hit dead cold with this gem
makes it glorious and i'll def go back to it. ty for posting.
ome of us are lackers compared to more encylopeedic and careful collections.
i only heard some alt. bob stuff i posted just a few days ago!!!
rushed here w it!!! lol, someone told me that it had been out and available
for twenty years. my my.

That is an opinion that has been debated on this forum, one I do not agree with at all, though as with many songs, they have similarities.

This has Cried Out on it. I don't hear Laugh... in it. I hear how people could associate it but it's considerably different.

Seems there's more similarities than differences w/ Micks vocal phrasing being nearly identical.
