Thanks, schillid! One of the coolest threads.

My research was inconclusive - the pic is just as tiny on the vinyl cover, and a magnifying glass didn't help identify the blurry text.
Even broke out the Deluxe edition (which is mighty nice), and looked through the hardcover book that was included for any other info regarding the cover itself - nada. In the back section of book, there's several pages that include lots of cool pics pf vintage '72 memorabilia, tour posters, etc. (even a nice repro of the the yellow/red tour poster featuring three ball Charlie), but not a mention of Robert Frank or anything to do with the cover work. The only mention of Frank is the credit on the album proper - both regular vinyl and deluxe set. If they ever redo the deluxe set (a super duper whammy deluxe), they should include all of schillid's work here. If they can include a separate envelop of those replica postcards (forgot about those!), surely they can add something about the characters that help make the album cover so iconic. Or maybe shillid could write a book on his own -
'The Story Behind the Cover', and include other iconic album covers as well.
