Then I contacted designer John Van Hamersveld via his website.

And he
told me about
Three Ball Charlie...

Please ... what did he have to say

That I should do A BOOK with my story and the pics (if I get permission from Robert and June, others)...

Book would be my story of this "project" here on iorr ...

* Meeting Robert Frank in person;

* Interest and focus and determination and luck;

* Using Google, Facebook, and Pinterest image search;

* Meeting Russ and Lucrecia Sarita Russo online;
* Corresponding with Bob and Greg online;
* Chatting online with John Van Hamersveld
* Essentially crowd-sourcing the interesting research;

Would anyone buy it?

I would absolutely buy it.
Can't help but wonder if it might not make a better magazine article though.

Depending on the depth of background on performers etc., it could very well make a great read in book form as well. Either way, it is a very interesting story.

I mentioned something similar back on page 7 schillid. thumbs up

" If they ever redo the deluxe set (a super duper whammy deluxe), they should include all of schillid's work here... surely they can add something about the characters that help make the album cover so iconic.
Or maybe shillid could write a book on his own - 'The Story Behind the Cover', and include other iconic album covers as well.

But yeah, you could focus solely on the Exile cover alone, and include all your research giving the backstory of all the characters involved.
As to whether anyone would buy it, I definitely would, but would request a signed copy please. winking smiley

I asked Van Hamersveld "John, where is the proof ?"
I said people will be sceptical ...

He said that it was on the cover of a magazine a long time ago... WITH A CAPTION MENTIONING EGGS.

He added "Good luck finding it"

Been thinking about this...
He could have used a real tennis ball, which is nice'n squishy;
and a real golf ball which is a little smaller. ...

And while the kids and adults in the audience are busy examining and bouncing around the other balls... the golf ball and the tennis ball... Charlie makes one quick switch... He swaps the billiard ball for the egg.

Charlie really only needed to switch one ball: the billiard ball gets swapped with the egg..

Could be eggs I suppose, but if you're familiar with this guy it's not too hard to believe that Charlie was using real balls.

He could probably fit a dozen balls (or a dozen eggs haha) in his mouth!!

Francisco Domingo Joaquim

"Meet the man who won a place in the Guinness World Records for having a mouth so rubbery he can fit an entire Coke can in it… sideways.
Francisco Domingo Joaquim's mouth stretches to a massive 6.69-inch-long, which adjudicators from the famous record book say is the world's widest.
The 20-year-old record breaker from Sambizanga, Angola, is said to have shot to fame after showing off his ‘talent' at local markets and football games"

How much does Rolling Stone (i.e.) pay for a feature article?

... versus a book? (how about with optional three picture / tv-movie deal)?

But then again... the face is made of wax and wire mesh.
Probably built the lips around the balls
