After collecting Stones items for 30 years, I recently discovered the 1978 book "The Rolling Stones on Tour" at a Goodwill store of all places.
I thought I was aware of all band-released books and was surprised when I came across this one. I had no idea of its existence! It's an oversized paperback book with an intro from Mick and extensive photos of the 1975 Tour of the Americas by Annie Leibovitz. Some images I'd seen before but many others are new to me.
I'm not sure if its been mentioned on IORR before. Anyone else have this book?

Great book but it falls apart. I need to have my copy rebound. Wasn't Terry Southern involved as well?

I believe i had 2 copies at one point. However, today i found only one while cleaning old stuff from my parents home. Strange that i see this thread today. As kids back in the 80s we used to cut out the pics from the high school library copy. I also saw a copy of it in the waiting room table of a small media company in Saugus Massachusetts, very random.

There are a few on Amazon right now I think. It's funny, before I found mine at a thrift store, I had searched Amazon extensively for Stones books I might have missed. Or perhaps I had seen this one an thought it wasn't official as the cover looks a bit amatuerish.

It's one of the cornerstones of a solid Stones book collection. Many of the shots and quotes in there have been copied
Yes terry Southern was involved writing a little.
I have had the book several times over because it falls apart. One must be careful with it.
Usually you can find it on ebay.

All the pages are falling out of my copy.
I cut and folded a piece of cardboard to use as a cover, along with a pair of big clips to hold the pages in place.

The pages are falling out on mine too, even though I've hardly touched it. And as a librarian, I'm filled with discust as this is also happening to hardcover books, in general, the last 20 years or so - in the past the hardcover books were sewed, so they stayed in shape for ages, recently they have been glued like paperbacks so they are useless for future generations. Everything is falling apart in these times.

Yep -great book at the time. I bought when it first came out. Price listed on back is $10.95. Mine still intact but you can feel the binding ready to fall apart. In retrospect, many of the photos are silly space fillers but it's a great slice of history.

Just sold my copy, all pages intact, signed by Annie Leibovitz. To prevent the pages from falling out, younhad to hold the spine tightly while flipping the pages with your other hand.

I bought mine at the end of the eighties at a webshop. When I first looked in it, immediately the pages fell out of the book. So not much luck with that one.

For all of you that attended the Buffalo, NY second show. Pages 130 and 131 show The Stones staying at The Statler Hilton Hotel in downtown Buffalo. The building is still there.
If you look closely at the TV set on page 131. There is a commercial for a game show called "The New Treasure Hunt" Saturdays at 7:30. WBEN TV Ch4. WBEN is now WIVB. Maybe that is what Keith was doing in the picture below that one.... Ok Im done.
