Now in Epsom , where I live just a 30 minute bus ride from Kingston (my home town).

I go there at least twice a week and usually spend a bit of time by the River Thames and remember the very small venues back in the 60's ,with only the old Granada Cinema (now Pryzm), where The Who ,(played their most recent gigs on Feb 14th 2020 there as well),also The Stones, Tamla Motown shows and all the big acts back then.

Great times........ but too young back then to see some really milestone gigs.
Just missed out seeing The Stones and The Who , but Mum took us to see one of the first Tamla Motown gigs in U.K.

Still remember that so well. Only about 13-14 years old back then in 1965-66.

Going there tomorrow again, and will probably have a pint or two and a meal, in The Kings Tun pub opposite The Granada.

Always remember great days in my home town as a youngster back then. smileys with beer

The King’s Tun is a great name for a pub. Definitely one of the better ‘Spoons. I ate there before Ronnie’s church show and the 1st Who show of the 4 as you know. After that show, I went straight to Scotland for the weekend on an overnight coach. My last trip away of any kind, 6 months ago sad smiley

I did the walk along the Thames you describe. It’s a very pretty town apart from the very concrete bits of the town centre. No doubt property is ludicrously priced there.

I spoke to a local Kingstonian whilst queuing for Ronnie’s show and he said the town has quite a rich gigging history.

I was lucky enough to see Ronnie in Kingston in November and was charmed by the town! A few of us snuck off for drinks at a great pub on the river before the show, and I had a bit of time for a wander, but it’s definitely an area that I want to explore a bit more...if I ever get back to London. Lousy virus...

Yeah. That's a weird difference.

Years ago my kids were all into the Waldo books, and when we visited the UK and saw a bookstore display it felt like we stumbled into an alternate universe...

Dear Mr Vik,

My late sister, journalist Sharon M. Lawrence, aka stonesrule, used to post regularly on the IORR site, and I thought some of the readers might want to know that she died in late October. Sharon was 81, and suffered from a heart ailment, dying in her sleep in Los Angeles--with, I hope, her dreams full of Stones and Hendrix songs.

Yours truly,

Melanie Lawrence
Berkeley, California

Just looked back at some of her posts from 3 or 4 years ago and I do remember her well.

Yes, she was very knowledgeable about not only The Stones, but the music business in general (having worked for MCA in the 70's - Elton, Skynyrd, etc.). Sorry to hear about her passing.
