OT: Great start for Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Man. Utd.

As a U.K. supporter in SW London of Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Man City and several other lower league teams that all play great football.
Just watched the highlights on Match of the Day here in U.K. and Man Utd have finally played well enough to win really well, with all the really good players they have.

Gotta give all credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ,the players and his team for getting a 1-5 victory at Cardiff !.

Man Utd back to the days of Sir Alex maybe coming soon. thumbs up

Don't you mean 5-1 victory? Winners always come first.

The usual way is to put the home team first as in Cardiff 1 Man United 5.

No big deal as Man United got the 5 goals and had a really great game.

Looking forward to their next games over the Christmas and New Year period to see if they can keep it up.

Ole is such a refreshing change with his smiles and happy nature when talking to the media, as opposed to Jose and his miserable and confrontational attitude at times.
Jose will eventually get another job at a top European football club and he has had a reported £22 million pay off, so I don't feel sorry for him one little bit.

Although I am a West Ham fan, as a Norwegian I must say it is pretty exciting to follow Man U with Solskjaer as the manager. A really good start for him thumbs up and I bet the team will step up from what they have done under Mourinho.

No, home team's scores (should) always come first.
(That way, people also know wheter, f.i. like in this case, it's a home or an away win, you see...
'cause Crawdaddy - or anybody - might as welll have said "over" or "against", in stead of "at" in this case.)

Shame he didn't win more when he was there as Cardiff manager.

You're wrong, ROY. You can't have a 1-5 victory. It would go against verbal logic.

You tend to do better with great players.

Ole Gunnar could not have success in Cardiff on his first try some years ago, because he wasn't really home. But now he is back home, with his Man U team, and I think, I do believe, that the Man U fans will get more great games in the time to come.

I watched the game last night. It was a great game, so great, with offensive play. They could have done defensive play and kept the lead after the first half, but they kept on attacking. Ole Gunnar said he asked the players to play like they were kids, no worries, no fear, just fun, attack, attack. Some great goals, and a great game indeed!

On the contrary; it would be perfectly logic.
because it follows the mention of the actual match (in this case: by analogy with Cardiff-ManU, 1-5.)

Makes much more sense than to reverse it, in order of 'size'...

And about proof & pudding: it's simply common practice. 95% of the scores in 95% of the countries where "the beatiful game" is played, follow this logic.
After 40 years of intensively following 'footie' worldwide, I know that much...

Obviously, there's always the 'odd one out' - see this one, f.i. : ... smoking smiley

But hey, it's no capital crime - feel free to quote scores any way you want!

Apparently you don't understand the basics of language, ROY. You can't say a 1-5 defeat either. It has nothing to do with sports, it's basic grammar rules. If you don't believe me, ask any language teacher.

man utd have too any egos, since fergie left they have spent well over £300 million and many players have not delivered.

some believe they are better than they are, dosent help that the media hype them up.

if i was a manager i wouldnt have pogba, martial or rashford near my team, decision making is appalling for these players despite the skills they have, bad attitude dosent help. pogba needs to have a look at himself, he believes his price tag.

i think its difficult being a manager now, you cant shout at players the way they did in the old days, if you have a go at players they sulk, and cause friction in the dressing room, then the manager gets the sack, the old style of management wont work now, players are too sensitive, too soft and basically in the modern game a lot of players are not interested in playing for the jersey, football sold its soul a long time ago.

I don't really care who is winning or loosing as long as they play great games. But sure I understand a lot of you are not Man U fans, I am neither. I just love a great game when I see it.

There’s a special circle in hell reserved for Cockney Reds

There’s a special circle in hell reserved for Cockney Reds

Manchester United are one of the biggest football clubs in the world and this has resulted in gaining a fan base from all over the world. Consequentially, this means that United have hooligans based all over the United Kingdom. Various sub-sections of the Red Army such as Cockney Reds, Coventry Reds, and Carlisle Reds have been recognised.

Traditionally, Manchester United have had more arrests made due to football-related violence than any other club in the country. In 2005, United had 160 supporters arrested for hooliganism and 100 supporters received banning orders. This is almost double any other club in the United Kingdom.

Notably, clashes between United fans and St Etienne fans in the 1977 European Cup Winners’ Cup resulted in United being forced to play a home match in Plymouth. Consequentially, due to the reputation the Red Army had developed allowed French police to be prepared for what was in store. At the time there was a bakery strike on in the UK, this resulted in the St Etienne fans throwing stale bread at United fans. This escalated in various clashes with St Etienne fans. As a result, 33 people were taken to hospital whilst police continued to escort United fans out of the stadium. The trouble resulted in United being forced to play the return leg 200km away from Old Trafford and Plymouth was the chosen venue.

In more modern times, the Red Army has been involved in serious clashes with fans of A.S. Roma. When the two sides met in the 2007 Champions League deadly incidents occurred. Five United fans were left stabbed and furthermore four United fans were jailed. At a bridge near the Stadio Olimpico, Roma Ultras were preparing to ambush United fans. However, word was let out and United fans were alerted. Three hundred members of the Red Army angrily marched towards this bridge and took the fight to Roma’s Ultras. The Red Army gained respect from the Roma Ultras however, this does not mean the violence stopped. After the clash, many United fans retired from hooliganism. Whereas others waited for the return leg in Old Trafford to target the Italian hooligans.

Although Premier League football has become saturated with commercialism and clubs aiming to grow a global fan base hooliganism still exists. Whether people like it or not, it remains one of the few working-class aspects of the game today. Just this season gone, before the derby game at the Etihad, both United and Manchester City fans clashed. Hooliganism is an issue that will be forever associated with football.

A language teacher who has a degree in three languages and denounces grammar. Well, you learn something every day. Arrogance or not, there are rules in language.
I didn't find much when I googled it but here is at least one link which explains it: [speakspeak.com]. It's Christmas so I won't nag any more about this. Have a good one, everyone! You too, RJOY!

Football has it's nasty element all over the world but it is a very tiny minority.

Most footy fans who watch a live game in Europe ,South America or anywhere else go for the enjoyment of watching the game.
Fans like me who usually watch the matches on TV or highlights of the weekend matches, also watch for the excitement of a good game.

Plenty of good games to come for the European football season starting on Boxing Day (Dec. 26th) here in U.K.

Ole was a very popular player for Man U during the years he was there as a player, and if the good results keep coming till the end of the season, I don't think they will be looking for another manager.

Only time will tell. Still very early days but things looking good. thumbs up

Manchester United continue their winning streak to six after a really great game against Spurs at Wembley Stadium.

Goalkeeper David de Gea had a fantastic match with so many great saves.

Well done Man U. thumbs up

Spurs v Man U.
