At the end? He seems to run to the side of the stage at the final moments of the song as if he was watching his grandson climbing a fence or something..anyone knows what happened?

You can see it clearer on the audience recording on youtube(brixton 1995)

Thanks!

I have always wondered this since 1995 also I would guess it was to do with what he could hear

Didn't he walk off the stage while playing Sympathy during the ABB tour?

Wasn't there a problem with his cans or the monitor feed for the percussion track ? He'd be buggered on SFTD if he couldn't hear that.

Yeah, I believe so. He couldn't hear the percussion loop clearly.

Wasn't Tumbling Dice like 2nd song of the show? He must have used to bathroom right before the show.

the question is rather: why did he return? (and: when?/how long took it until he returned?)

On the 28th of August 2005, in Ottawa, Charlie walked away from the kit during the intro to SFTD...the drum loop continued....he reappeared after a few minutes. He was not feeling well for a few minutes and was concerned it was serious....fortunately it was not serious.

Took him about 30 seconds to return. A rather short trip for a bathroom case imho.

Ottawa Canada 2005 Charlie and Keith both left the stage during "Sympathy...

Problems on Sympathy For The Devil
Sympathy For The Devil has got a rhythm base playback track. It seems like there were problems for Charlie to sync up with this. At one point both Charlie ande Keith went backstage to talk to the technicians, while Mick held the show in his hands and Ronnie did his best to distract, but the song did really miss the strong guitar playing from Keith and Charlie's heavy drumming. The song was hanging in the air for something that felt like a long, long time for those who know the song and how it should be, but most others did not seem to react much. Same problems happened a bit on Brown Sugar. See the various reviews above.

He heard that right before showtime Mick had once again called him "my drummer" and Cholie looked for retribution?

That would be funny. I can see it now: during Keith's song break, Charlie chases Mick through the backstage tunnels. "I' coming for you Fauntleroy! You can't run and you can't hide. Mwah!"

Without playback they are helpless of course...
