It's really not too hot today relatively speaking with a high at 102.
Supposed to be a bit hotter tomorrow, and even hotter on Monday, so thankfully the stadium will be enclosed!

Speaking of hot, went out to a place earlier that was literally smokin' hot! Some of the best BBQ in the west, at Little Miss BBQ! (original location near airport)
Met the owner who gave me the full story about it all "when we run out of BBQ, we close for the day", and was invited back to see the giant BBQ pits and smokers and one of the cooks in action.
Texas style BBQ, and doesn't get much better...the beef brisket was heavenly. And sure enough by the time I left, people were being turned away as they were getting ready to close up shop - sold out!

Currently still in a food coma from over-indulgence, but am planning my next stop on the food itinerary for tomorrow night...Honey Bears BBQ as recommended by mab1888.
Will it be as good or even better than Little Miss BBQ? Only one way to find out....

Decided to get a refund on my 100 level seat (section 130) and buy a pit ticket after all. I can hardly wait!!

The Westgate restaurant/retail plaza is adjacent to the hockey arena--which is next door to the football stadium. There is a ton of parking over there with a movie theater etc..so you can park there for free and walk around, get food, beer etc...and then walk to State Farm.

I’m not a local but have been to Westgate several times for hockey games and concerts in the arena. AMC movie theater, Yard House, other bars/restaurants etc., stay open well past 10. Parking lot will still be open. You’ll be fine.

Just thinking - maybe they could break out Glendale Train by NRPS, or Sure 'Nuff n Yes I Do by Captain Beefheart, who hailed from Glendale ?

The lots will be open because there is a movie theater there. You will be fine.

Any ideas on what time merchandise stalls will be open ? Presumably outside? Want to pick up my stuff early if possible and drop it back to the hotel nearby.

They will occasionally throw open the one(s) in the lot earlier in the afternoon.
Opened one up at 2 in Santa Clara..

It's not hot yet, but it's getting there....

Well that's a bunch of malarkey, and who am I kidding - it is f*cking HOT already!

And you may ask yourself, how hot is it?
Left this plastic cup in my car yesterday afternoon, and this is how I found it this morning...meltdown.




Made it there and back from circumnavigating the stadium grounds (trying to stay in the shade), and went in to survival mode with bottle of water and basic human instincts lol.
Took a few pics of the calm before the storm (a very nice looking stadium) on a nice quiet Sunday morning with hardly a soul around, though did bump in to several Stones fans meandering around and braving the elements.

Alrighty, I've cooled down now in my hotel room blasting the AC at 60F...starting to feel Arctic in here, so gonna step outside for a few moments to warm back up.
Noticed there's a Casino a few blocks from here currently under a massive expansion (Owned by the Native American Tohono O’odham Nation), yet a temporary building is being used now.
While not much of a gambler, might put a few dollars into a couple of slot machines, and maybe they have the Rolling Stones machine where I won quite a bit of money on one of my last trips to Vegas!
And after hopefully winning, gonna head to over Honey Bears for some BBQ...good times in Arizona.

Really glad for everyone that this stadium has an enclosed roof option.
Especially glad for the band and Mick in particular who at times has had difficulties (throat,nasal) in the extreme heat

Hey mab (and anyone else), if you're in the area this evening there's a Stones party at Native Grill and Wings next to Cabela's which is across from Westgate starting at 6:00-ish.
I'll be there around 7:00 wearing either a light blue Nederlands football t-shirt or a drab blue Blue Cheer Surfboards t-shirt, and a black baseball hat w/ Stones tongue.
If not tonight mab, not sure where you want to meet tomorrow, but somewhere near stadium would be best - especially within walking distance.
Will probably hear about more parties for tomorrow between now and then. By the way, picked up an extra free parking pass for hotel guests and if you want it's yours. If not let me know, and I'll give it to someone else.

On another note, was chatting outside the hotel lobby earlier with a Stones fan for about 10 minutes when IORR came up...turns out it was snoopy2!!!

Made it to Casino with $100 in my wallet , and left with $350...I'm not great at math, but something tells me I came out ahead!

Hey chriseganstar we met briefly in Havana, on the roof top bar at the hotel Ingleterre. I arrive in Phoenix tomorrow (26th) afternoon, do you have the time or inclination to meet up again? We emailed a few times as well before Havana, I'm from Canada/west coast.

Anyone have any ideas where we might be able to meet up after the show? Seems like there might be a few places in walking distance and it would be great to hook up with you guys. Anyone with any ideas please post!
