Honky Tonk Women Top Of The Pops 69 ?

Check it out - taken from Switzerland's Hits A Go Go but may well originate from BBC TV Top Of The Pops. Worth a youtube like in my opinion.

Wow! Never seen that before! Simply amazing... Damn they were rock gods back then.. they still are for sure but that's simply groundbreaking stuff in coolness... extra kudos to Jagger's leg work... the athletism starts to show big time there, making his papa proud I am sure..grinning smiley

Thank you ash!smileys with beer

It seems that Mick Jagger sings live while the rest of the band simulates to the pre-recorded tape.

Rockandroll,

Actually Brian died in the night before, so they already knew about it. Which makes this piece of film even more historical.

N

HITS A GOGO was a coproduction between Swiss television channel SRG and German television channel NDR.
Some of the episodes were rebroadcasted in 2013/2014 by Germnan television channel Einsfestival.
Maybe it's from there.

The well known colored version of HTW is from “TOTP Christmas special“ (aired 25th December, re-broadcast in “Sound of the Sixties”).
It was recorded on 12th December same day Gimme Shelter was recorded for “Pop Go the 60s“.

I'm the person who posted the clip on YouTube. I couldn't believe it when someone sent me that particular 'Hits A Go Go' episode yesterday, and I saw the RS clip! 22 years ago, Keith Badman (when researching his 'Good Times, Bad Times' book) contacted the TV station who owns these episodes, only to be told that this particular one no longer exists, yet here it is.

I wonder what else is "out there"?

There really ought to be a new and official DVD release of all the Stones 60's TV appearances/videos etc.
Am not convinced ABKCO would be a problem...I think the BBC have the copyrights?

The shadowy lighting is unusual for a videotaped pop TV show. The camera work is good, too.

Hmmm...wow that's kind of creepy and adds to the darkness of the black and white video.

Jones' old band mates were in the studio recording when they got the news, and as Richards wrote, “There exists one minute and 30 seconds of us recording "I Don’t Know Why," a Stevie Wonder song, interrupted by the phone call telling us of Brian’s death.”

It's not a pre-recorded tape, it's the single version without vocals.

That's how TOTP most commonly did things in those days. So, nothing unusual about that.
