Another missed opportunity for former Creedence Clearwater Revival bandmates John Fogerty to have a one-off with Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. Too many years of bitterness, lawsuits, and name-calling.

Until I read a excerpt from Fogerty's book, I never knew that his brother and former CCR member Tom Fogerty who passed away in 1990, had died of AIDS.

Oh FUUUUUUUUCK that. Those guys are @#$%&. He shouldn't ever play with them again. Fogerty IS Creedence and he's completely justified in feeling the way he does.

You are correct sir. Cook and Cosmo have sued him without merit one too many times. Fogerty has every right to be bitter, screw them! Let those parasites continue with the county fair/Indian casino gigs and let Fogerty best represent CCR as the wtiter, singer, producer and lead guitarist of that great band at Woodstock 2019 just as 1969!

My wife and I saw John Fogerty at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, 2007 - LEGEND!
So glad to have seen him live, and would love to see him again some day...in another small theater - not Woodstock 50!

Saw Fogerty at Mayo Arts center in NJ 2014-Excellent show. His son played a little too-cool. Missed him at Woodstock-think he played very late at nite-I was passed out somewhere there by then for sure!

I saw him with a friend at Darien Lake (crappy venue) back in 2005 with John Mellencamp. My friend's girlfriend couldn't go so he came by the house and asked me to go and I said sure.

Nice setlist but the show lacked something...a rhythm section.

John Fogerty wrote one song. It's all a variation of that song.

I saw John Fogerty play for free a few years back, across the street from where I worked in Burbank, at Warner Brothers Records. He put on a concert out in the open. It was great. I also saw him in 1969, opening up for the Turtles at Clowes Hall in Indianapolis. The rest of CCR is okay, but they don't add something that can't be duplicated, or bettered, unlike trying to replicate Charlie and Bill.

I can't listen to CCR or John Fogerty anymore. They were played constantly on Top 40 radio in the San Francisco Bay Area. That might influence my opinion of John. I've seen televised concert solo appearances, and John has never impressed me as a live performer, either. I'm not that fond of his singing voice or his guitar style and sound. However, maybe TV and records don't do him justice. Live appearances have a diffrrent energy.

Due to a scheduling conflict, The Black Keys will unfortunately need to cancel their set at @woodstockfest. The band wants to let fans know as soon as possible and before tickets go on sale.

They have a "scheduling conflict" for an important show like this? Sounds bogus. They must have changed their mind about playing here.

I saw John Fogarty once a while back at a shed show and he was great . I loved his song Centerfield which the guitar he played was made out of a Louisville Slugger Baseball bat which was very cool to have a bat/guitar made out of an ash body with a maple fingerboard !Towards the end of the show his crew wheeled out a Kustom Amp stack which was vintage and supposedly what he used during his CCR days . Oh by the way you might need ear plugs for his show as he was insanely loud and my ears were ringing good and plenty . Very rare these days for that type of decibels to be projected out into the audience . The most recent show where the volume was so loud was 2014 for Ace Frehley and when he completed playing Shock Me with the fire and smoke coming out of his neck pickup on his Gibson Les Paul Sunburst he tells us "Still smoking after 40 years" which I most certainly got a tremendous kick out of as he truly is a great performer/entertainer/guitarist !!!!!!!!!!!!

Great post, Greek. Yeah, very loud (but super clean) when I saw him in a small venue.

And I saw Ace play that smoking guitar (or a similar one) in 1977!

Hi Marianna,

The same could be said for Mick & Keith!

Keith has even stated how similar the guitar work his various songs. I cant recall exactly but something like Brown Sugar is just Street Fighting Man ...just slowed down.

I actually have a bootleg of Neil Young where the crowd is yelling for songs and he tells them ..."It's all one song!"

I chalk it up to a style. Fogerty w/ his swamp/bayou vibe. Stones with their...well they are all over the map- in a good way.

Neil, Dylan, Stones, Fogerty ...all very recognizable within seconds of hearing.

It's only Rock N Roll ...but I like it!

Though I did not see the most recent tour because they literally skipped most of the east coast major cities, Black Sabbath's the End tour looked and sounded phenomenal. Ozzy sounded great, Geezer and Tony were in top form. Too bad Bill Ward couldn't be there but the drummer they do have is an animal.

Not really relevant to the discussion but was surprised to learn today that the couple featured on original Woodstock album are still married!

Michael Lang Calls Woodstock 50 Cancellation 'Rumors' After Ticket On-Sale Postponed

4/19/2019 by Dave Brooks

An email alerting agents to the postponement of Woodstock 50's ticket on-sale has prompted fears that the 100,000-person anniversary concert will be canceled, although founder Michael Lang cast the fears as merely "rumors" late Friday.

"Woodstock is a phenomenon that for fifty years has drawn attention to its principles and also the rumors that can be attached to that attention," Lang, one of the co-founders of the original 1969 event in Bethel Woods, New York, said in a statement to Billboard, adding that fears of its demise were "just more rumors."

Earlier today, talent manager Amanda Phelan with Woodstock 50 talent-buyer Danny Wimmer Presents sent an email to agents representing acts at the concert in Watkins Glen, New York, explaining, "There is currently a hold on the Woodstock 50 on-sale date. We are waiting on an official press statement from Woodstock 50 regarding updated announce, ticket pricing, and overall festival information. We will get this information to you as soon as we receive it."

Tickets for the three-day event with headliners The Killers, Dead and Co, Imagine Dragons and Jay-Z and were supposed to go on sale Monday (April 22) in honor of Earth Day. No new date has been announced and the delay has prompted concern from managers and agents with acts playing the multi-genre festival.

“There’s always been lots of rumors around Woodstock," said Lang on March 5 when responding to questions about why he was planning to wait more than a month after putting tickets on sale to announce the lineup.

"We have excellent partners and an incredible talent lineup of over 80 artists which will be announced within the next couple of weeks. We’re preparing a once in a lifetime event,” he said.

Billboard has spoken with representatives for a number of acts on the lineup who say most artists have already been paid the deposits for their performances.

"No one knows what the hell is going on but there is clearly a problem," one agent with an act playing the Aug. 16-18 event says, adding that the fact the Lang and the Woodstock 50 team can't get the event on sale likely means an issue with investors or site complications at the Watkins Glen International Speedway, which is scheduled to host this year's event.

Woodstock 50 Ticket Onsales Delayed While Organizers Await Watkins Glen Permit

Monday, 4/22/2019
By: Deborah Speer

Woodstock 50 ticket onsales, expected to begin today, are postponed while the festival’s permit application continues to be reviewed by Schuyler County, N.Y., health department officials.

According to Schuler County administrator Tim O’Hearn, the application was submitted April 15 and a temporary permit must be issued before ticket sales can begin for the 50th anniversary event, reports the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Woodstock 50 is slated to take place Aug. 16-18 at Watkins Glen International Speedway in upstate New York with a lineup featuring headliners Jay-Z, Dead & Company and The Killers.

The Woodstock 50 website indicates that tickets will be “on sale soon” but an email to artist reps from talent buyer Danny Wimmer Presents last week informed them it won’t be today, according to sources with knowledge of them.

Despite rumors the festival is experiencing problems, it’s believed all of the participating artists were paid deposits “a couple of months ago,” and none have dropped out for non-payment. The Black Keys announced it would not perform at Woodstock 50 and, while the reason for that cancellation wasn’t revealed, sources say it was not a payment issue.

It appears that rumors of a bloated artist budget are unfounded, as a source told Pollstar that while the top names would likely see a larger than typical payday, most artists on the roster are "being paid what they are worth."

It's a shame...the 50th anniversary deserves to be celebrated in some fashion, but this thing didn't add up from the moment it was announced.

The Bethel Festival was already booked and includes Santana and Fogerty.

The venue itself is quite nice BUT getting in and out by car is the WORST of any concert venue I have ever been to in 50 plus years of going to concerts. If you drive allow at least 2 hours to get in or out.
