Could we live with an intermission at a Stones show?

What do you think, could it work at a Stones show? It would definitely work for the venue, giving them an extra boost at the concession stands. For us older people, we could get in that visit to the toilet.

But when would it be an appropriate spot for an intermission, before or after the Keith set? I'm sure Keith could use one now and then.

It would certainly make a good case for more songs, maybe even a 24 song set. I'm sure the detractors would say it ruins the groove or it's a letdown in the middle of show. I'd like to see them give it a try.

I'm trying to think of which bands use an intermission, I know the Grateful Dead always did, can anyone think of any others?

Nah cool smiley

Can't imagine one at a stones show personally.
The whole show really does have a rhythm to it, can't imagine the house lights coming up in the middle and then everyone resetting and having a second "opener".

It’s only a 2 hour show.
Don’t eat drink or pee for 2 hours.
Unless everybody’s got a chair to go back to,
the standing people would never get their spots back.
My .02 cents.

I think if they carry on for much longer there will have to be an intermission. Mick's been having one for decades.

Springsteen has intermissions but his shows can go on for upwards of 4 hours.

Unless it's a special event, intermissions are momentum killers.

Can you imagine the lights going down for the second set and the keyboard music starting for "2000 Light Years From Home" with a sweet 2 minute psychedelic music intro and light show then the plucking, drumming part and bam!

I think an intermission could be a good idea, IF it was paced right.

An intermission for a Stones concert is a tremendous idea. Let's take sports for example, a 20 minute half-time break in most cases changes the outcome of team's performance.

Let's say the Stones during intermission determine the setlist just "doesn't feel right " They could could put the setlist on a projector and revise as necessary and discuss kinks in their performance. I recommend the intermission around the 10 song mark.

The example below indicates that the stones would not have to make any setlist changes during the intermission after Heartbreaker. In this particular case, they are winning and could do high fives after or during the intermission. However, they would have to maintain intensity as they did on this particular night

This was broadcasted live via radio.

For example from New Orleans, 1994

Not Fade Away
Tumbling Dice
You Got Me Rocking
Shattered
Rocks Off
Sparks Will Fly
(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Beast of Burden
Out of Tears
Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)
I Go Wild
It's All Over Now
Miss You
Honky Tonk Women
Before They Make Me Run
The Worst
Love Is Strong
Monkey Man
Street Fighting Man
Start Me Up
It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)
Brown Sugar
JJF

Also, during intermission, fans receive time to relieve themselves and obtain drinks while mitigating new seating assignments.

There is an intermission of a sort (at least for Mick). The Keith-song-section.

Yes. 18 songs. An intermission. Then 7 more songs. Perfect show.

Add a half time show with talking heads discussing the first set and predicting the second one.

Haha...the heads of all message boards...bv, Stonesdoung, and Gazza.

Seriously though a great idea to have an intermission, but for many Keith's set is an intermission in itself sadly.
Maybe right after Keith's first song, then intermission, then Keith comes back for his second song.
Mick will get an extended break, and be good to go for the remainder of the show.
