With the exception of one track, the Rolling Stones would have a modern hit in this format .... and I’m not a Daltrey fan

Already done. It was called 'Voodoo Lounge'. Part two was called 'A Bigger Bang'.

He co-wrote two of the eleven tracks...the rest are covers.

Voodoo Lounge was a definite attempt at rediscovering yesteryear. Not sure about A Bigger Bang, though.

good for Daltry...put the music out there dudes....there's a reason you've lasted 50+ years.....we want to hear it.

Every aging band usually tries to revisit their classic sound, mostly to disappointing or middling results. Its rarely revolutionary. And as pointed out, the Stones have tried this many times over, usually to those same results I pointed out others have hit. In the end, they could never recapture it. I'm pretty sure its been said, the band isn't their life anymore. And on top of that, they are older. When you factor those two things in, it makes sense they can't just walk into the studio and make great music. They can make middling music, or cover music well, but they can't really create something of true value anymore unless they really gave it their all, which I doubt they'd do and understand why.

Having said that, if Daltrey's thing is good, good for him. Glad he still enjoys it and if people like it I'm sure he loves that. Glad to still have him out at his age.

I prefer this ‘sound’ to the Jagger collaborations of recent times

Every time I listen to A Bigger Bang, which isn't often these days, many of the songs sound like weak whispers of past accomplishments. I can't quite put my finger on it on some of them, but it's there.

As important as any change in the band is the change in the times. Material recorded now wouldn't have been perceived as great then and things recorded then wouldn't have been thought of as great now. The times they are ALWAYS a-changin.

A Xmas album would be a sign of the apocalypse. I believe its in the book of Revelations. Just my humble opinion....

I agree with Plexi. Plus they should stay away from the trap of over producing
their recordings. Their last effort “Blue and Lonesome” was produced quickly
and it has a great feel to it. Another example would be “Exile” which today is
thought of one of their best releases.

They could easily do an album of covers. They were always good at that. Some of the blues covers on B&L were pretty much on point to the original, but some of them did add a little.

The Stones Country one to me is somehow the alternative Some Girls release.

Spot on, Tim! I really enjoy reading how fans compare one song with another or one album with another, but with the time factor in mind ... ???
I always felt that the Stones were making music based on how they felt at the time. Nobody always wakes up in the morning feeling perfect, and I've known professionals who have looked back at their past "achievements" with question marks on their faces. Useless, because that is how you were at THAT time
