Billy Preston played "CLAVINET" on "100 years ago" but on the South African edition he plays "CLARINET". confused smiley
We knew he loved playing Flute with only one hole but clarinet!!! >grinning smiley<
With the boom boom censored "Star Star" it's a good item to get! smoking smiley

I think he played «clarinet» in way more countries than South Africa. His wrongly credited on my LP, too winking smiley

Favorite track on GHS....never got much respect---would have been better to hear in '17 than Mr D......Ron could have gone off for a few minutes at the end!..

The clavinet by Billy on Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) is also fantastic, as is the entire song.
I was thinking about this the other day when I heard Heartbreaker on the radio; it's such a unique song not only in the Stones entire canon, but rock and roll in general.
Might be just me, but can't really think of a song by anyone before or after that has any real similarities as far as the song structure goes with it's driving rock and roll funkiness.
Then again, I guess there are some similarities between it and 100 Years Ago....

The single (b/w Dancing with Mr. D.) was the first Stones record I ever bought...February 1974 when I was eight years old!

You beat me by a bit as the first Stones record I bought was Made in the Shade in '75 when I was 12, and yes Heartbreaker was on it.
That said, my older brother had most Stones albums prior to that which I listened to quite often, and sometimes not by choice as we shared a bedroom at the time haha, but it was nice to finally have my very own!

Actually, it was only two live Versions at Vienna and Mannheim before the song was dropped from the setlist (unfortunately, IMHO).
