The use of the Stones 1969 masterpiece was the subject of a (now closed)thread in 2016.
Watching the (UK) news last night I saw that it is being used again in the US Republican campaign, ahead of the November Congressional elections.
Maybe ABKCO (the Song Publishers) or rather the Klein family are Republicans so would make sense to use the song...and of course reap a financial reward at the same time.
Still, thinking of the title...seems a strange choice for a political campaign?

Old news.
Been played (sarcastically) at the rallies for 2+ years now.
Nobody makes a dime when the music is played at rallies etc. (public places).

The band has publicly issued a request for it not to be used to no avail.
Others (Steven Tyler) have recently taken legal action to try to stop their music from being used similarly, hope they prevail.

They paid for the rights to use the song throgh the publisher. The public appeals not to use it were one time pr moves
