Personally I'm not sure any of them truly deserve it. Not a knock to them, and I'm sure thats a tad controversial because some people's favorites are on there, but I just think the nominees really get lower and lower each year. I do feel this might be the worst, because there's not even one that I think is obvious, and usually there's at least that. Good for those bands those. If I had to choose 5 I think it is:

-Radiohead (not a fan but their influence or continued relevance and success is undeniable)
-Def Leppard (Their first 3 albums are flat out phenomenal. They sold out and got very bad after that, but at one time I did think they were great. I think they are bottom tier deserving but one of the few bands I'm a fan of so I have to vote for them.)
-The Cure (Not a fan, but so many band cite them as an influence and Robert Smith is still going. I gotta give them props.)
-The Zombies (I don't think they deserve it but Odseysey and Oracle is one of the best albums ever. But I don't think one album makes a Hall Of Fame band. Or it does but it has to be massively influential. An incredible album but hardly influential.)
-Either MC5 (for influence alone) or maybe John Prine

Sorry Stevie, I'm a fan but wouldn't say solo she's a Hall Of Fame artist. The same way I personally wouldn't say Sting or Peter Gabriel were solo but by comparison she makes them seem very legit, at least to me. I would get the argument for Rage but I just don't know if they're first ballot, or need to go in this early. There will be time for them. Small fan of Roxy Music and Todd Rundgren but just wouldn't register to me as HOF worthy. Definitely the least I've ever been interested in this institution which is really saying a lot.

Rage against the Machine is a good choice, although they only released 3 studio albums they had a huge influence in hard rock. Their merging of punk, metal and hip hop on their debut album in 1992 was groundbreaking, especially Tom Morello's guitar work.

You.Got.To.Be.Kidding.Me. They're really reaching here. This grouping makes me wonder what the purpose of the HOF is. Prine is the only one, IMHO, who has a collective body of work that's interesting and worth listening to.

If one deserves it it's Roxy Music they did totaly something new in music.......

I actually think this list is the best the HOF has nominated in many years, sure there are a few that I don't like at all but in previous years I might only think 1 or 2 were worthy but in this list I could see 8 or 9.

I'm very surprised Rundgren isn't in already.

How about Motorhead, Maiden and Priest? Enough with the anti-metal bias.

My picks, though not totally sure why as the Hall of Fame is completely arbitrary - might as well close my eyes and randomly pick.

This year, Kraftwerk is on the list again.

I like Kraftwerk. I'm a Kraftwerk fan. But are they rock n' roll? No!

In fact, they are the farthest thing from it.

The criteria for RnR HoF membership isn't really about music. It's the code of the schoolyard: Is it Cool, or not?

Which is a bad way to run things, because "cool" is pretty fluid, and can shift from year to year.

They had plenty of opportunity to induct Hallyday when he was alive, but blew it.

If Bob Marley is in, what about Toots Hibbert?

There are so many great English bands (Mott the @#$%& Hoople, The Jam, T-Rex,etc., etc.) that weren't super-big in America, and even they can't get a break.

As long as the Hall is run by Jann Wenner, TV Awards show programmers, and know-nothing young hipsters, it is bullsh*t.

I hope the MC5 (Brother Wayne) tells them where to stick it like The Pistols did. Being in the rock n roll hall of fame is the antitheses of what a band like the MC5 stood for. I was a little ashamed when Nirvana were inducted. I wonder if Cobain would have up for it.....
