Was shocked to find out that Geoff Emerick had just passed on at the age of 72 [variety.com]

Not really OT actually as he contributed so much to the pop and rock music we all love here.

His book is a great and fascinating read.

RIP

Engineered and produced great records. Didn't have a Project, thankfully.

R.I.P. Geoff Emerick

A central figure along with George Martin...
An engineer, and collaborative partner of the Beatles.

A very important person in The Beatles recording career.
Never realised he was so young when he was working with them!
Macca continued to use him from time to time long after the group split. Says it all.
RIP

So important in the development of studio recording techniques for inventing Automatic Double Tracking (ADT) to help enhance the sound of vocals and instruments. I believe The Beatles' Revolver was the first to use this process, which Lennon called Double Flanging.

I love his production on Imperial Bedroom, Elvis Costello's second finest album: the first one being The Delivery Man.
