No offense - but I find the Atlantic City concert a little on the "stage show side". It sorta sent a message to all that we would always have to deal with Miss You.

Too many great versions to mention, and trying to narrow it down to one is impossible - but the studio version and YaYa's is embedded in my brain for eternity, and the first ones that come to mind.
It's probably the one song that transcends the various lineups w/the quality remaining intact - whether it's the studio version, the genius Mick Taylor live versions of the golden era, the slapdash excitement of the Ronnie era, and the intense Mick Taylor live versions of 50 and Counting. Can't really think of another song that has survived that long retaining a certain quality and without losing something due to lineup changes.

As for versions I've seen, pretty much all of them are favorites, but one stands out not necessarily for the playing/sound quality itself, but more so the actual overall experience .
Front row B-stage standing right in front of Keith at the free NRDC concert at Staples Center in 2003....that will always have a special place in my heart for variety of reasons...

The 1973 live versions are great. This is one of them: Perth 1973

Imho they're just blueprints for the great versions that came later (72/73 and some 75 perfs).

Yes all of those are great versions - as I said too many great versions to mention, and trying to narrow it down to one is impossible.

difficult to say.

ya ya,s version is great, but so are some of the versions from the recent tour.

the warsaw 2018 version was fantastic and probably the best for a long time.

Ya-Yas and Brussels 73 are the best I've heard. But it's a consistent winner whenever they play it. So the best Rambler is in the ears of the ears of the beholder.

I try resist my contrarian urges and avoid overthinking these things. Every now and then a new recording comes along (say Perth 73 thirty years ago) and I think for a moment that it might surpass Ya-Yas and Brussels. Then I play Ya-Yas and Brussels again and I'm reminded that they are and likely always will be the big dogs in this here kennel.

Yeah, I'd have to say Ya-Yas and Brussels are tied...and the studio version is great too, although quite different than what the song ultimately became live.

This is one of the few songs, I prefer the live versions to the studio version. Maybe best is roundhouse, but indeed stuttgart 2018 could be the best I ever heard live.
Don't like the versions 2003-2006, whrer they cut the middle part...

The Rolling Stones Shanghai 2014 Midnight Rambler

One vid of it on youtube, and its been pulled?!?!
I have the audio from the vid from ages ago however, since then the vids got this message on it

'Video unavailable
This video contains content from Eagle Records. It is not available in your country.'

This version is brill and its a cryn shame its been pulled!!

TBH any version with mick taylor is alright by me. he's an essential ingredient to this song live for reasons documented many times on this board already
