I saw this same Farewell Tour literally 4 years ago in what was to be their last visit to Columbus. Now, they're coming back to Columbus in May for a Festival.

Paul Stanley said Covid caused the farewell tour to be postponed/prolonged. For 2.5 years. He said this on Stern today.

Cue up the pre-recorded vocals for Paul Stanley!

Are all of his vocals pre-recorded? Just curious, as I haven't followed them for years

Pretty much.
He sings in some parts, but sounds horrible.
It's mostly the pre-recorded tracks.

And while Kiss used to mock any artists who lip-synched (Gene Simmons even saying it should be stipulated on the ticket if done!), now their line is, without fully admitting it, that nobody really cares, and that the audiences just want to be entertained...

That's pretty weak

I've never understood the attraction. I've met Simmons and Stanley, and they were really nice, but I've never gotten why they were so big.

KISS has used canned vocals for years now.

Whatever you think of them, they still should be admired.
Paul and Gene have done a great job for decades!

That what show business is like: the goal posts are moved all the time to make scoring easier...

Someday a handbook for bullshitting will be written from the long history of rock: 'don't ever take anything the rock stars say about the ethics or ideals of their game seriously at all. They will eat their words sooner or later.'

On with the show...

I know that Paul uses prerecorded vocals almost exclusively now, but I was surprised to hear it actually sounded live on Stern? I can't imagine they were able to set up prerecorded vocals THERE, and he sounded pretty live and actually decent. Can anyone confirm? Can he just do that if he has to for like 12 minutes?

We should start a betting pool on how long the break is before KISS - The Return.

Oh boy, so we're all gonna witness the trainwreck!

I love KISS, I would love it if they could end gracefully and with honor and respect. I just don't see it happening.

Had a great time at the Nashville show this year. Definitely no train wreck that night.

I saw them at the Osaka-jo Hall, March 22, 2001, the final date of their “farewell tour” in Japan. It was my third Kiss show after 1977 and 1997. The show lasted about 2 and a half hours, very professional and thoroughly entertaining, a fantastic night. What made the evening even more special was, we were greeted by the arena staff in Kiss make-up, ticket-collectors and ushers alike, most of them were ladies, which added fun. We really thought this would be the last time we would see them live, Sayonara Kiss. Indeed it was for me.

They toured Japan another 7 times after that.

I think it would be good for KISS to pack it in after this tour.

I hope they can end on a graceful note and not be upset and pout about it.

Lets see, when Gene and Paul announced the 1st farewell tour in March of 2000 they both said it was about "bowing out " before you could not perform and deliver anymore at the top level. At least they still had Ace at that time before he got tired of everything. I grew up a big Kiss fan and still enjoy listening to them occasionally but live they are not close to what they once were. Pre recorded lead and backing vocals, click tracks ect.. At their age I don't expect them to be as they once were with their voices and stage energy but this version is not for me.
