<Use him guesting as a way to go viral and say "see?!>

One way would be to have him as a guest, doing his guitar solo number alone on stage - with pyros and all..

I doubt Ace would settle with that, though.

All this "end of the road tour" is going straight to a complete failure. It can only appeal to hardcore fans, and those fans got the Kiss Kruise, that's way more interesting, and leads to no problems having Ace, Bruce and Tommy toghether onstage.

Do Gene and Paul expect to sell out stadiums or arenas with a lip-sync show?.

Oh obviously. But here's the thing, they can't do that because they still don't know how to deal with this Ace/Tommy thing. Their goal is to try and never have to deal with that, I'm guessing. Or at least haven't figured out HOW they'll broach it. So you can't have Ace guest in full makeup with full pyro because they truly don't know how to deal with that right now. Do you still have Tommy on stage? Do you have Ace replace Tommy for that song? How do you truly show its Ace and not Tommy (since they're wearing the same makeup and after all Paul has always said its about the character not the person)? They have backed themselves into a corner by minimizing Ace's importance, but now need his name to sell tickets. So they only want to boast him so much without looking idiotic.

Having Ace guest acoustically with no makeup is the best situation right now cause it creates buzz and for now they get to skirt the "how are we gonna deal with this two spacemen" thing. I think its something they are desperately trying to put off as long as possible and this is a way to do that. If this doesn't work, they go back to the drawing board. But their goal is to NOT have to reach the point with Ace in makeup, cause its gonna get really weird super quick.

<Do you have Ace replace Tommy for that song?>

Yes, and with a separate introduction for Ace.

Then, back to Tommy again. Corny, but it could work..

Does anybody grow up saying "I wanna play bass like gene Simmons"? If so..why?

I assume that is how it would happen. But its just ridiculous. Ace and Tommy are both dressed as the same person! Tommy as the Spaceman is gonna walk off and they're gonna introduce Ace, who looks exactly like the guy who just left the stage?! And then say goodbye to Ace and have another Spaceman walk back on (assume they don't reintroduce Tommy)? I'm aware thats basically the only way to do it but just seems really odd and weird looking.

As for Gene as a bassist, no I didn't grow up saying that but I'll defend the guy that he's actually a really good bass player and better than he gives himself credit for. He has exactly the right bass for their songs and it sounds great. Of all the things he talks up, I'm surprised he never talks up the one thing he's actually pretty good at which is singing bass. You can complain a lot about KISS but that would be a weird one to harp on.

Not exactly that, but being 34 and playing guitar and bass, I'd love either playing like Gene or getting a bassist who can deliver those lines with that sound.

He's underrated as a bassist, I think.

Paul wrote better songs for Kiss, but they all benefit from Gene´s lines. Think about Sure know something, Detroit, Dirty Livin' (it's not Paul's), Deuce...

What a mess . I will say that I was more enthusiastic prior to reading all of these posts as I am not critiquing anyone's post but Gene and Paul sure have a fine mess to deal with and I do agree that Ace will be used to sell tickets and will really not be rejoining the fold -so I don't have as much as a desire to actually go and buy a ticket unless it is clearly and explicitly stated by Gene and Paul that Ace is in and Tommy is out . Which for the life of me I don't really see Gene and Paul giving the bums rush to there loyal employee Tommy .

I've seen KISS twice (once with Aerosmith in 2003 when Peter was still with them) and with Motley Crue in 2012.

I think that's enough for me. The resale ticket prices at Mohegan Sun Arena are absolutely insane.

Ozzy is playing Mohegan next year for HIS "farewell" tour...that's more my speed. At least the band will be playing live, and I haven't seen him with Zakk Wylde in quite a few years.

Ozzy is playing MSG as well. Trying to figure out whether I think that is worth it. Have always wanted to see him and never got around to it. Really wanted to go to the Sabbath farewell but once Bill Ward wasn't involved I lost interest. I would have gone to see the 4 original members, but once that thrill was gone I couldn't bring myself to go.

Picked up tickets for Vancouver via Amex presales. Lower bowl endzone, $99 Cdn plus service charges so $250 Cdn for 2, pretty reasonable.
All these bands announcing farewell tours are doing great as far as ticket sales go. Paul Simon, KISS, Seger, Elton. If Elton came to Vancouver and it wasn't announced as his farewell tour, I'm sure he would sell out Rogers Arena but since it's his farewell, 2 shows sold out.

I saw that come through as well and considered it. My disdain of Gene Simmons though greatly outweighs my appreciation of the novelty aspect of seeing them live so I decided not to bother.

I've seen Ozzy a number of times...

3 times with Zakk
2 times with Sabbath
2 times with Sabbath minus Ward

Then I saw Sabbath with Dio (Heaven and Hell) 4 times.

I saw the Sabbath twice (on those last 2 tours without Bill) and it was great - I mean Tony was absolutely brilliant, Geezer was great and Ozzy was entertaining (especially on the last tour), eventhough his singing was really horrible most of the time (especially on the firt tour). But yeah, seeing Tony and and Geezer was worth it.

I would never think that I would go to see Ozzy solo (and pay for it!), but I actually did this year, since it was a double bill with the Hollywood Vampires, which I really wanted to see. The Vampires played first and were really great, then Ozzy was just...Ozzy. Out of tune most of the time... no, it is not worth it seenig him solo. Not for me anyway. But the Vampires totally made my day and I am happy I went.

Back on topic - today I actually bought a Kiss ticket. I know like three or four songs and never really thought about seeing them live, but it is a double bill again and ZZ Top play before Kiss. I saw ZZ Top once and absolutely loved it. So the Kiss concert will be just a bonus, I guess it will be entertaining just looking at them, I expect a similar experience as Vampires / Ozzy

Ticket sales don’t look that awful in most markets. I’m going to the Columbus show and it looks like it should be pretty filled up. Some shows are having trouble selling those “aisle seats” that are priced higher. Look for that more in the future from TM. Charging more for aisle seats.

I've noticed the aisle seats being higher priced, too. I wasn't sure if it was just Rogers Arena in Van doing it or a ticketmaster thing. Having said that, I got Seger tickets via Amex presales this morning and picked seats 1 and 2 and wasn't charged extra. I checked the rest of the seats in the row and they were the same price.

Ozzy tickets went on sale Friday for Vancouver as well as Seger, both on their farewell tours. Now I see Iron Maiden is coming back to town right after Labour Day! 2019 is going to be an expensive year as far as concerts go.
It'll be really expensive if the Stones announce a BC Place show!

Oh yeah!

Ozzy at Mohegan Sun and Maiden in Hartford. I am SO happy. If the Stones play either NYC or Boston, it'll be one of the best years for shows in recent memory.

Yeah, it's Spinal Tap, but still awesome (at least to me).

I just saw Maiden in 2016 in Van, so I was a bit surprised they're touring again so soon. Only thing I didn't like about that show was so many new songs. First saw them in 82 opening for Scorpions. Got my Number of the Beast album autographed by all, including the Clive Burr. Saw them again in 83 with Saxon and Fastway opening. Didn't see them in 87 when G'n'R opened. Saw them again around 2000 with Queensryche and Halford. One surprising thing is the last 2 times I've seen them, they didn't play Run To The Hills!

Maiden always play 6-7 new songs when they tour on a new album, and it can be tedious for casual fans, particularly when the songs are so long.

This tour they're on now is mostly greatest hits, so you'll really enjoy it, and RTTH is back in the set now.

Detroit Rock City, however, is genius. that one kills.
oh they got a couple of ab explosive fun things.
i used to really actually get excited if they were gonna be on TV;
rarely when super hot they'd make a Variety show or Awards show
kind of appearance. I loved the whole Kabuki (sp?) aspect; the brilliant
life-size space cartoon but just three loud guitars and the guy who
COULD sing playing drums. why oh why that guy didn't get a kitty litter
company going when he was hot and just clean up kitty litter style
i'll never know...
well maybe someday i will know.
if you see him, ask him for me.
tell him Beth and Detroit rock cit tell the whole Kiss Story
aside from that they want to party cold gin party cold gin party cold gin party all night cold gin party all night cold gin all night 3 fricken years a farewell tour? great. i notice two fresh press releases every day and there's nothing going on yet; i am looking to see if amazon has a bubble where nothing electtronic can get through...
3 years eh? three years of this? whoa

The Destroyer album as a whole is pretty good.

Detroit Rock City is my favorite KISS song by far...co-written by Bob Ezrin of course.

Re: OT: KISS announce (another) farewell tour
Posted by: hopkins ()
Date: November 13, 2018 23:57

yes i agree about Destroyer personally. right about that time i really enjoyed and appreciated them. it was ok hard rock with not such a great singer, but it WAS exciting and there were/are, some mighty good tracks imo, despite my put-downs of the errant non-stop, and sort of truly smarmy rank commercialism.
i mean i get the point and every band has an image they project and all that...
but many here know how many times the've (latter day relatively) really, imo,
disrespected the soul of the genre which they do not represent to me, but did touch upon in the early going, just out of rawness, volume, theatre and intensity.
and damn good record production in the 70's on a LOT of stuff that producer went near....
...so i don't just wholesale put everything about them down; more sort of recognizing they place themselves so cheaply like the worst reality shows,
which did show I think, how sorta crass Gene's front is, i have no idea
how much of that arrogant elite b.s. bleeds into his actual life; maybe not so much who knows or cares past a point when there are so many muddy footprints obscuring in many ways, the cool stuff they brought to the table just as 'glam' was fading out of fashion....
....even bowie had moved on....

creem magazine had the best concert photography of those guys in full expensive costumes doing cartoon faces and it was super great. i recall digging how outraveous it was; how patentedly purposely rude the whole thing was, and did appreciate it; not so much anymore; tho i'm sure if i rummaged thru their catalog i'd come up with something really driving...
3 year farewell tour is a bad joke, but as far as state of the art theatrics and all that, maybe even bits of the sonics, it will be giving the customers a circus spectacle. I didn't ever think there was a good lead singer in the band; and you need one imo.

everything else is stopping. this is it.
I'll be camping out when the hotel money runs out, that's OK.
I'll be gofunding me some sorta iphone thingie so i can periscope each
show, (and sound-test hopefully, I'm EXCELLENT at parking lot dynamics).
i am hoping and praying that Ace and Peter show up.
I''m bringing tissues each time. uh, for the lens, just to make sure, gulp, the pictures are clear....
