I always agreed, but with a tune like this something dawned on me... there is a whole bunch of people that have never heard this tune and never would have heard it. Now, there is a whole new group of people getting to hear it and saying that's cool.. the Stones are more than the radio hits. If they were just using Start Me Up, that would be different.

"You'll be studying history and you'll be down the gym. And I'll be down the pub, probably playing pool and drinking."

early sixties... Then in the eighties Decore took it and flogged it
to death on TV with their hair shampoo commercial .... things were never the same .........

She's a Rainbow was used at less in 10 different commercials (Sony Bravia, Acura...in France we had 3 or 4 ads for french insurance company, employment placement or other stuff)

I remember when Sunkist soda pop used Good Vibrations in an ad in the late 70s in the states. I thought it ruined the song for me, and that I'd never get over it. I did. Just like they used Satisfaction in a Snickers candy bar commercial, and Start Me Up for Apple, or Google, I can't remember. The point is that the usage fades.

Just watching the rebooted Murphy Brown’s first episode and it opens with Sympathy For The Devil. These guys are raking it in even if they never work again.

Thanks for the update. How many sales would #180 equate to? Dior Youtube vid has now been viewed 50 million times. Great exposure for the band.

#180 on the Billboard 200 means about 5,000 sales points: about 1,000 pure sales and 4,000 points from streaming/track sales.

Is it the more casual fan who buys? Someone who has been reminded of it.
I suppose someone who is hearing the tune for the first time could ask around and research it on the internet so maybe I’ve answered my own question!

I really love the song but the car commercial is overplayed and I'm starting to want to change the channel when I hear it.

Think the ad is great, but am also grateful I've only seen it twice, once on tv and once online. Watch very little television.

Saw the band perform it twice at recent concerts, and it was one of the highlight songs of the tour for me. One of the best songs for them to show off the amazing stage and lighting and use it as part of the song, imo.
