Have the Stones ever played Africa?

I'm thinking about a trip to Capetown/S. Africa next year - looks amazing. Got me thinking though - as far as I know, the Stones have never played the continent of Africa, have they?
As they are always wanting to play places they've never been, you'd think it would at least at some point have been discussed? I'm sure it has its challenges, both financially, logistically and politically - but there are BIG cities like Capetown, and Johannesburg, where other bands have played and you would think the audience might be there. And heck, IF they were to add that to 2019, I'd go!!

There was talk, around 1969 of them performing in Rome (Colosseum) and I recall Tunisia.
Neither happened, of course.
But don't forget: Continental Drift (recorded Tangiers, 1989).

But, in view of the size of the continent and the example of other musicians eg Paul Simon, they haven't given Africa much attention. Economics over ruling adventure again.

Maybe in rehearsal. Not in concert.
I don’t think Charlie can pull off that Jeff Porcaro groove.

Damn! How many pro shot shows are there from '94-'95? It seems like there's an awful lot.

The Mandela Effect - when IORRians swear the Stones played two dates in South Africa on the Voodoo Lounge tour, but the rest of the world thinks they never visited the continent.

Speaking of "Sideways" the movie. I love that film. I remember watching it for the first time and laughing uncontrollably during the scene where Paul Giamatti's character retrieves his friends wallet from a one-night stand lovers house and her naked husband chases him down the street while Pat Travers "Snortin Whiskey" song is playing in the background.

Of course.
There is a Rome (or Roma) in every continent. Well, perhaps not in the Antarctica.
The US apparantly has nine. Typical.
Anyway, the reference above relates to the Italian location. Just mentioned it as the Stones office at the time had announced 'plans' for both these dates.
They settled for Hyde Park (only) instead it seems.

I think in Bill's Stone Alone there is a line about talks about a show in one African country in the mid sixties. Maybe Tanzania..
