OT: Sony allegedly released 'fake' Michael Jackson songs
Posted by: rara ()

Apparently Sony released three songs on the album Michael (2010) that were sung by someone other than Jackson. Just recently a voice analyst confirmed that the voice doesn't belong to MJ.

Sony hasn't denied the claims. Zia Modabber, the lawyer representing Sony Music and the Jackson estate, said the following: ["The particular statement being complained of in our case in that video ad," Modabber continued, referencing the YouTube promo, "is it says that this is an album from the greatest musical entertainer of all time, from Michael Jackson. Well it is an album — and it's really his estate — well, it is an album, from his estate. Okay? ... The other point I would make about the video ad is that for somebody to say that they heard 'Here's an album from Michael Jackson,' and they translate that into 'every vocal on all of the songs were sung by Michael Jackson' — that is not a reasonable interpretation."]

Kind of scary to think of what the record companies will try to sell under the name of The Rolling Stones once the Stones are gone.

The difference: There´s no voice like Mick´s,
no guitarist like Keith or Ronnie,
and no drummer like Charlie who could copy them.

The Eagles only beat Thriller in the US, not worldwide AFAIK

What a scam - the poor Jacko fans have been swindled.

This isn't news. The family and a number of news outlets spoke out when the album first came out that several songs were recorded by a session vocalist and passed off as new tracks and a new single at the time of release.

Which reminds me a Mick compilation cassette I bought in Abu Dhabi in 1993 with an unknown track...well it was a fake and it didn't take me long to spot it. I'd be very surprised if uber fans of the Stones like us could be fooled by a fake Jagger !

It was more of a 60's song what I remember ....but this one can also fool you especially Mick's voice although there are some strange intonations...

Jacksons voice is more unique than Micks voice. So yeah, anyone can be copied.

It was pretty obvious though, those songs are really bad. I was shocked hearing ‘Breaking News’ (that was even the lead single from the album) the first time. Terrible song and stupid lyrics. No way Michael Jackson has/wanted anything to do with that.
