Love the album version but the live versions are just terrible. If they have to do that kind of song live, pension off IORR and revive @#$%&.

Why is the LYL and LA Friday versions terrible?

It's interesting that they felt the need to re-arrange it again when they brought it back after 1975/76, on later tours, though. I never understood that... confused smiley

I never understood why they turned it from a really cool sleazy, glam/NY Dolls-style song to just another tired Chuck Berry number.

And why Keith switched to standard tuning...

They've never even tried to reproduce the studio intro live for starters. And imo, it's that intro that just sets up the groove so well. When played live, it just sounds like a generic pub rock song to me.

There's some truth in that ...

...but there's also much truth, when they play Rock N Roll, in describing the Stones as the finest Pub Rock band in the world winking smiley

I wouldn't disagree with that!

The studio version just got played on "Classic Vinyl" on Sirius and what great guitar parts, it's amazing they never even tried to play anything approaching on stage. Surely if Chris Shiflett the Foo's lead guitar player can do it singlehandedly, between them Ronnie and Keith could have come up with a decent approximation of it !

Love the studio version and love the LA Friday version. Hasn't really cut it for years imo.
