SNL 1978, coolest ever? Jagger's voice was shot. Coke or cold? Or both? The performance is close to farcical. The sketches even more so.
As a bonus on an official release .

A great bonus. Wish the Stones would have put the Love is Strong TV performance as a bonus here

At the MTV Awards? I don't think they screwed up Start Me Up at all. It was a great version as I recall.

It is not to judge from youtube, but the sound is muddy ;(

For comparison - 30s-Preview: [iTunes.apple.com] .

A 90s-Preview is available directly within iTunes.

I want that recording!! Wrong as always but I've always thought the releases with DVD and CD cater to the DVD and therefore a different sounding mix which hurts the CD.

The sound is not muddy, rather it is the best sound of live VL that until now I have listened!

Giants Stadium should be a bonus, complete with funny/silly intro of groupie in bed with a roadie, who she's been led to believe is Ronnie.

To each his own, I guess. What I hear is a muffled, muddy sound. A tad better than the PPV, but only so. Ronnie's slide is crystal clear though. As if it was superimposed on top of all. Darryl's base is all over place. You can hardly hear Keith. Charlie's drums has a damped sound. As if he had cotton on his drumsticks. There is no depth, no resonance, no stereo effects. Lisa is looking good though...

I would describe San Jose 99 in the same way you did there (thin, buried guitars), but the VL clip sounds better than that, to my ears at least. Looking forward to hearing the whole thing. For San Jose I assume it’s because they don’t still have the multitracks, but for this show I would hope they do...

Hate to beat a dead horse(no pun intended) but man did the Grateful Dead know how to record shows. Stones pale in comparison on the whole.

On my hi high resolution streaming service, Tidal, the sound is a little muddy.
I think San Jose 99 sounds a lot better.
Still looking forward to seeing and hearing this show. muddy sound and all.
I think Mick approves the final mix for these shows, thus the buried sound of the guitars.
I'd let Keith and Steve Jordan have a go at producing the next one.

Hello, what I meant to say is that I always hated the sound of this concert of the official release, it's really bad, listening to this seems like another world. This does not mean that it is the best sound, but far better than the other.
Edit. Perhaps Ronnie now who is sober takes part in remastering, in the past his guitar was buried.

It's live music. Both mixes are fine. We hear everything balanced and crystal clear.

Are you insane? This is against the rules - to change a setlist!!!! You should go to church this Sunday to confess!!!

Have not heard the release so far, but if the sound lacks I think it is for the most part the mastering choices or the lack there off.

That's the irony. The crappiest band ever in rock and roll had the primo sound system and recorded everything. The best, the Stones, were very erratic with their recording.

Yeah, the problem was it was Greatful Dead music.

It was more than their recordings that made them fun. Point is a damn shame this excellent Stones show has underwhelming sound. The band’s on stage and it’s another guitar buried recording.

Always hard to judge from a youtube video, but I like the clear sound we get from the YGMR video. It seems to be a drier mix than the one found on San Jose '99. (less echo/reverb)
