concert you missed ?

Are there any Stones concerts that you regret you couldn't see it for whatever reason? For me, I wish I could have been at a concert in their first year in the Crawdaddy club. I also almost missed the Paradiso concert. There was a radio contest and listeners could win a ticket by playing Angie through the telephone. So I called, got through, got my guitar ready and waited until it was my turn. Then the guy on the other side of the line said "Oh, I'm sorry, we already have someone else, bye".

So instead I went to a big field where they put up an outdoor screen...

Don't fret, J.J. Flash...while the second night was better She's A Rainbow was just a novelty.

For my part I wish I could have seen them live in '75.

nonsense son.....'78 was a more focused & purposeful tour behind the some girls lp...i also enjoy the '75 tour however: play handsome girls, then play l.a. friday night....and come back...'75 stones werent running on all cylinders yet...'78 they were tuned up and ready to go with ronnie broken in...best wishes stoners

there were many duds during '75, true (as they were in '78) - but not the LA run. I'll take 7/13/05 over ANY '78 show - and yeah the 78 KBFH shows are among my alltime favorites. And, Leonard - I'm putting the MT era aside for the purpose of this discussion (but, I agree with you).

There are some.

- in 1990 I drove all the way to london to see them at wembley, but K hurt his finger and the show was cancelled (apparently this was the first time in their whole career)

- in 1995 I drove to paris and just missed the first show. the second was a blast under pouring rain though. Bad thing was that I had an entry for the Olympia some days later but had to return to milano for work.

- in 1997 not one but two shows in a row were cancelled at Milano. Had to go to see them in london

- in 2002/3 i would have sold my sisters virginity to get in a club show, but no way: I could not find the time off from work to camp out of the box offices hoping to find a ticket. out of desperation I arrived to offer 1,000 usd to someone, but that was not enough. at the time that amount sounded huge. now its only double of face value. blame inflation?

Missed the Stones in 75 due to my stupidity.

Non-Stones - Missed Stevie Ray Vaughn because I went with a girlfriend to see Cyndi Lauper. Please form a line to kick my ass!

Oh, it's very sad!

But, tell me, what your job is? Are you the Prime Minister? On the basis of keith's quote: "If you have problems with attending a Stones show because of work, quit your job" smiling smiley

I'm 0-for-2 on JJ Cale - still hope I get a chance to see him. Had tix twice - first time in late 70's, I got the stomach-flu while standing in line to get in - wound up vomiting violently all nite (more information than you need). The second time in '94 in SF - my friend started puking just before the show started (let's just say it wasn't the stomach flu) and had to take him home.

Would you take your friend home when it is the Stones?

Good question. Since he doesn't read this board often, I can confidently say: NO.

I was throwing up (Jack Daniels flu) the first time I saw the Stones (Orlando 81, during Van Halen's set). Nobody would have taken me home even if I'd have wanted to go!

Wow - it was that same "strain" of flu my buddy caught at the Cale show! what a coincidence! ;-)

You could have been there !!
I hadn't a ticket also, but drove after Ahoy straight to Utrecht, and slept all night on the streets.
The next day, they sold tickets at the door twice; I was in the second selling, got my ticket for € 50,- at 8 o'clock PM.
It was if I had won the lottery.

July 4, 1975 - Memphis, Tn. My next door neighbor had an extra ticket but my mother would not let me go - I was eleven. - Still not over that. I had to wait till '78.

I regret not hopping on a plane to Oakland 11/12/02, which was briefly considered. And 9/25/97 WAS much better than 9/23/97. They just played better regardless of the 2 setlist changes.

Paris Olympia 2003. I was in the process of moving back to Canada from Germany, the movers were coming the day after the show. I could have done it if I wasn't such a wimp and decided I needed to sleep!
