You're trying to compare one of the best rock'n roll bands ever on one of their best shows ever with a guy who, while being talented, is almost a parody of blues and rock...

Thorogood always reminds me of Mojo Nixon :

Aahh that's the confidence of the Stones, baby.

George was on fire at the time, with a rockin band delivering one heck of show, but what do you remember from the night? 45mins of Covers or 2:20 of Original Rock, granted with a couple of covers.

Stones destroyed all

Listening to Let It Bleed should answer your question.

I must say George is a good entertainer. And sings and play the guitar simultaneously. Footwork of a light weight boxer. An impressive four piece band.
Really good sax player. Straightforward rock and roll. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Never was a fan of Thorogood's singing or playing. Hampton was a fantastic show.

A comparison between The J. Geils Band and the Stones on their 82 tour would be a harder one...
