Has Charlie ever sang backup vocals during a show?

I can't recall if Charlie ever sang a chorus or backup on any song live. I'm sure he contributed on some studio tracks but live? Any videos out there?

I'm pretty sure that's a solid NO on both live and studio contributions...except maybe the Whoo Whoo's in Sympathy?

Although I do recall Charlie being erroneously credited to backing vocals in the B2B liner notes for Always Suffering...when he was asked about it, he vehemently denied it and said he couldn't sing.

On one occasion Charlie got the microphone from Mick and he said something like: I will now sing for you.... but they wouldn’t let me! (Laughing by himself) maybe 2003 or 2005-7?

On studio songs, he is on a few. Shirley Watts, as far as I renember, is also contributing the high-pitched vocal to Please, Go Home.

In recent years, fans have noted that the first few songs feature backing vocals when Bernard isn't on state. That's Charlie singing. And if you truly want to hear Charlie sing, buy his solo albums.

1964 NME Pollwinners.

During I´m alright you can see Charlie singing along while playing drums.

So.... his voice is part of the show!

i'll take it. good enough. put that in the contracts and
give him a huge bump, or a horse. not too late folks, it's not too late.

really? he has a credit on 'always suffering'?
i like the harmonies on that one; there's a lot of nice lower harmonies
in there; i've no idea how to pick out what note they might have given him though.

Yes, I was there. I have looked for a bootleg of that show for many years but have found none.

I remember it well: Mick said, "Our own Charlie Watts is going to introduce the next song". Then Charlie stepped out from behind his drum kit, walked up to the mic, and said something like, "This song is called Lady Jane".

Hoping Charlie takes the mic one day and sings "Stray Cat Blues".

I believe he sang lead vocals live for the encore Jumpin Jack Flash in Pittsburgh in 1994 (he looked like Mick coming back out on stage but it was actually Charlie Watts so I'm told). He is also the lead vocal on studio track 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' (it's why he couldn't play the drums on that track ..he was busy singing)... He just sort of sounds like Mick a lot on the song.

You can hear Charlie's Lady Jane intro on the Honolulu '66 boot.

Would be nice to see and hear him yell out the line "and it hurts" at the end of Midnight Rambler.

Yes, it was on that your that he introduced Lady Jane. I listened to the Honolulu bootleg and was delighted to hear his sense of humor, introducing The Last Time instead of Lady Jane, then cracking up.

Thanks Dave! What an interesting setlist for 1966. That Satisfaction riff sounds better in 1966 than in 1969. The opening riff to the song in 1969 sounds absolutely terrible.

You were at this show in Hawaii?
Just curious, anyone know how many times the Stones have played Hawaii?

Thanks, brother. No, I was not at the Hawaii show, only the Hollywood Bowl show. It was a magical night indeed.
