It's from the Daily Mirror Archives, taken at the NME Poll Winners Concert in 12 May, 1968. They won the trophy for best R&B group. See Rockman's post on this thread: [iorr.org]

All those riffs and solos put together. Nothing but lovely!

But I don't know anything about any prize. I don't know what that trophy was - just a prop for the picture?

Thanks, Cristiano!

NME Poll winners concert May 12, 1968.
They'd been voted Best British R&B Group in the 1967 year end poll.

Brian, for the first time, looks a little behind the times in that photo. He still clings to a psychedelic look while the others have scaled it back. Still, it's one of the last times Brian would look trim and confident. It's so hard to imagine the '69 Tour with Brian just playing around on rhythm while Keith would have to do all the leads.

There's one for the Famous People thread: Mick with Roger Moore (before he was James Bond).

Another prize won by the Stones that same year, this time from Melody Maker. Les Perrin received the award on behalf of The Rolling Stones for the best single disc, "Jumpin' Jack Flash".
