I'm all 6s and 7s and 9s

(anyone know what that means? I've always loved it)

He's complaining about holding a poor hand of cards, full of nondescript 6s and 7s and 9s instead of higher value stuff. In my younger days I used to play whist with an uncle and aunt who often said that their hand had no "money" (good cards) and was all 6s and 7s - Tumbling Dice is full of card players jargon.

As for the tattoo, I like "she got a mind of her own..." but it has to be something she'll be able to live with all her life, so probably Bliss's advice is best: try it out with a temporary version first.

It was my opinion it had to do with the casino game of "craps", which of course would bet on the outcome of dice, which get "tumbled".

I saw an interview once with a woman who was a maid, servant, something in France at the time of Exile, who stated Mick would come back from a casino and ask how certain games were played, one of which was craps. Since then, I considered the line was about the outcome of six, seven, or nine, being rolled. While those actual results have different outcomes, Mick likely used those numbers for their lyrical contribution, not necessarily a direct correlation to the game.

Thanks so far for all the serious and funny advices. Its not because of me that she (age 22) wants this. But influenced by me she likes the Stones and realise the greatness of rhe band and their music.

And she likes a tattoo. So she's puzzling what kind of. She came up with the idea of a Stones lyric. This post I did on my own, she doesnt even know about it. Later on I will show her. She could be surprised or bored, we'll see. About the spelling: true, I'm not native English. But she's smarter than me, she will get it right.

Personally I like the "I've got my freedom, but I don't have much time' Referring to "I" seems more personal than referring to "she" Or "yesterday dont matter if its gone".

Here is where I seem to recall have got my theory.

"This was originally titled "Good Time Woman," with different lyrics. Mick Jagger told the story of the song to The Sun newspaper May 21, 2010: "It started out with a great riff from Keith and we had it down as a completed song called Good Time Women. That take is one of the bonus tracks on the new Exile package; it was quite fast and sounded great but I wasn't happy with the lyrics.

Later, I got the title in my head, 'call me the tumbling dice' so I had the theme for it. I didn't know anything about dice playing but I knew lots of jargon used by dice players. I'd heard gamblers in casinos shouting it out.

I asked my housekeeper if she played dice. She did and she told me these terms. That was the inspiration.""

Sounds as if the cards reference is just coincidence then. Some things probably work for both.

‘Love is a bed for the blues’
around a rose with a dagger/ thorn
to remind her
to pause
do not go in rashly
think it through
the possible outcomes
always take care of yourself first/ protect

That’s what I’d tell my daughter.
I’m a bucket of fun, huh?

I'm very curious about the suggestions of anyone in Stoneslan...

The song "2120 South Michigan Avenue" has pretty deep and meaningful lyrics. You should check'em out! thumbs up

Sorry, but I would recommend NOT gettig song lyrics tattooed. The lettering will look tired after 5-10 years, maybe even unreadable after a few more... safer route would be to just get a RS tongue tattooed! Not trying to be negative, but I dated a girl with lyrics tattooed and I thought it was super lame (not Stones lyrics, another band I kinda like, but still...) and an overall bad decision.

"When you call my name, I'm Pavlov's Dog."

How nasty is this?

But seriously: a tattoo is a for a life time. Think about it twice before you do it! Nowadays everyone seems to have a tattoo under 30 (and above 18). I see tattoos that obviously mean nothing to the person who has it. Make it count! If your daughter really wants a tattoo she has to be a 100% confident that that's the one she wants! I'd give finding the right tattoo a year or so just to make sure...

And I would definitely do a research on how letters might change over the years on the skin.

Why not just a red, -- or even a better -- a Steel Wheels tongue with two colors?

Same here. Bad enough that guys get full sleeves of tatooes. They can be very unfeminine on girls and women. How about a tramp stamp right at the lower spine with the Rolling Stones Tongue? That ought to send a not so subtle message to the guys.

Mine would say " TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE " but i don't like Tattoo's so it's not going to happen.
Always think of tattoos as a permanent choice or decision to a changing mind.
One year it's Sarah the next It's Wendy confused smiley

A bit like voting Brexit then wishing you hadn't winking smiley
