>How about "Everybody Knows About My Good Thing"?

Good call! That is essential.

And how about "The Long Black Veil"? or his contributions to the Jimmy Rogers disk BLUES BLUES BLUES?

These songs were "bubbling under" for my
compilation :
Lucky in love
Say you will
Wired all night
Don't call me up
If things could be different

And I guess all the 4 title tracks are quite
nice, although I rate them below these others.
Lonely at the top, Everybody knows about my
good thing and Long black veil would be further
down on my list. And I actually prefer the album
version of Hard Woman.

In another direction, the blues covers on the
"Nature of my game" CD are essential, although I
wouldn't necessarily put any of them on a "Best of .."
compilation.

thats because its a Stones outtake, reworked for his first solo album, so like all band compositions its credited to them both

Its actually an Emotional rescue outtake from Nassau, Jan-Feb 1979, not '77 as someone mentioned earlier

shes never explicityly stated who its about. Common consensus is its Warren Beatty but I think by remaining tight-lipped (a bit tricky when youve a set of gnashers like Carly's!) its helped to keep people interested in it.

God Gave Me Everything is a kickass song and def. in solo Mick's top 3 songs, if not the best. To leave it out would be a crime.

I'd have to add

Wicked As It Seems and Locked Away somewhere around the middle of that Jagger mix.

After all what's 20 Jagger sung-songs without a coupla Keef's in the middle to spice things up?

Tradition people, tradition.

Hi Camper88,

My first thought was to make a "best of" CD of Mick and Keith's solo material. I eventually decided to do just a Mick compilation, but I do agree that Keith would spice it up. I sort of feel like they are a little too opposite sounding with their solo work. Mick tends to use effects/technology and has a "pop" sound about his music, whereas Keith is pretty much straightforward rock'n'roll with a basic guitar-to-amp type of sound. I was wondering if making a CD with them together wouldn't flow as well.

I probably will do a Mick and Keith solo CD. After all, it's not a big deal to make these compilations on your computer. And if you don't like how it came out, CDR's make nice coasters. smiling smiley Any suggestions for a song list?

Dan

if you guys are counting Mick support/background stuff too, here are some gems i bet most of you never heard, but would make definitely my cut:

Stand Up for the Foot;
Will Ya, Won't Ya; and
Handful of Dust

Maybe I am not giving you guys enough credit, but without using google, how many of you know the singer i am citing here?

I saw the first two sung live with Mick inthe audience, but he couldnt be coaxed onstage to reprise his studio role on the songs.

The blues sessions he did with the Red Devils are excellent, IMO. And "The Long Black Veil" with the Chieftains is wonderful.

Haven't heard the Jimmie Rogers album, but would like to.

Ii heard that it's about Mr Jimmy . . . whoever he is. (jk)

deg01,

Thanks for the response but I was only joking about putting two keef tunes in the midst of your mickmix. Best of luck.

I don't have She's the Boss, but from Primitive Cool, I'd recommend the following:

-Throwaway
-Let's Work (yes I know some consider this a debatable choice)
-Say You Will Be Mine
-Kow Tow
-Shoot Off Your Mouth

And in 1985 he did a cover/duet with David Bowie on some movie soundtrack called "Dancing in the Streets". That's a good one, too, but I don't know what the disc is called.

Lonely At The Top
Throwaway
God Gave Me Everything
Wired All Night
Hard Woman
Dancing In The Street
Too Far Gone
Old Habits Die Hard
Just Another Night
Out Of Focus
Evening Gown
Visions Of Paradise
Lucky In Love
Don't Tear Me Up

About Too Far Gone:

I like the intro, with only piano, acoustic guitar and Mick singing. But then the song is messed up by a whole lot of instruments coming in. From a very nice song into a bombastic trash song. And towards the end there is also a piece with only piano, guitar and Mick.

Hello and more on a Mick Jagger solo project

I wanted to call all of your attention to a project Kat Kramer has been working on for some time. Actress, singer, writer – Kat Kramer – has been busy recording a new album – a Tribute to Mick Jagger – focusing on his solo material.

Lucky for her, Jimmy rip produced the tracks, and guest stars include Billy Preston, Bernard Fowler, Ivan Neville, Waddy Wachtel, etc. The Los Angeles-based Kramer has recorded many of the songs you’ve all mentioned on this post – among them “Party Doll,” “Just Another Night,” “Angel In My Heart,” and “Hang On To Me Tonight.” She is finishing it up finally. It should be out in February 200. It’s all Jagger love songs and ballads – sung in a smooth, mellow-soft rock pop-style. There will be more surprise guests when it’s completed! Kramer has always felt that Jagger has been underrated as an individual songwriter. She just recorded “Say You Will” his song co-written by Dave Stewart from “Primitive Cool.” Kat was featured on the DVD “The Rolling Stones/Just For The Record” – and she writes about them exclusively for Entertainment Today newspaper.

Stand Up for the Foot;

Is this "Get On The Goodfoot" by James Brown?
