Why not, too expensive?

I guess our American friends can explain the reasons for seated floors in stadiums?

Bet there are a lot of reasons. You can charge more for the (guaranteed) best seats out front, for instance. Security / crowd control would be easier with seats as well, I'd imagine.

Gotta think the "No Filter" tag is just the working title as of now.
The regular tongue is back, bet it'll likely be the "Name of the new Album" tour.

The No Filter screens will likely make the trip, and hopefully the No Filter Pit as well cool smiley

So stupid to have seats and no pit. If it were 1981 I would agree but it’s 2019. Ever since Bridges the overall the crowds especially in USA are older than the rest of the world. When the band last played Foxborough in 2006 the average age of the crowd had to have been 45 to 50. In the USA are they really worried about riots and charging the stage? The overall crowds in both Europe and South America are much younger and most recently fun then here.

Wiki

On December 3, 1979, the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio, was the site of one of the worst rock concert tragedies in United States history. Eleven fans were killed and several dozen others injured in the rush for seating at the opening of a sold-out concert by The Who. The concert was using festival seating. When the crowds waiting outside heard the band performing a soundcheck, they thought the concert was beginning and rammed the still-closed doors, trampling those at the front of the crowd.

The tragedy was blamed on poor crowd control, mainly the failure of arena management to open enough doors to deal with the crowd outside. As a result, concert venues across North America switched to assigned seating or changed their rules about festival seating.

Crowds are always smaller indoors.

Some acts like U2 and Springsteen do have a GA pit up front with the rest of the floor seated, right?

They will not sell out MetLife. Too big

The capacity number posted on the tour page (80,000) is for football. A typical end stage setup for a concert might eliminate 30-40% of the stand seats while adding 3000 - 4000 on the field, so real capacity would be in the 50,000 range.

Stones have had floor seated gigs in Europe as well. For example at all three O2 gigs 2007. 2012 they had a small pit up front and the rest of the floor was seated.

It's different in stadiums.

Actually, on A Bigger Bang in 2007 a lot of the stadiums in Europe were all-seated.

PLEASE PEOPLE, MSG WAS DESTROYED BY THE OWNERS WHEN THEY RENOVATED THE SPACE AND MOVED THE SKY BOXES DOWN TO A LOWER LEVEL AND MOVED THE CHEAP SEATS EVEN HIGHER UP. ALSO, THE DESIGN FEATURE THAT HELPED CREATE MAGICAL NIGHTS HAS BEEN REMOVED SO THE RICH CAN GET EVEN CLOSER. THE ORIGINAL DESIGN HAD 2 INNER RINGS THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE TO WALK AROUND INSIDE. THEY ARE GONE NOW AND MOVEMENT IS VERY LIMITED AND YOU HAVE TO WALK OUTSIDE THE SHOW TO GET TO ANOTHER SECTION. IF YOU CAN'T MOVE AROUND FREELY AND MIX IT UP WITH OTHER PEOPLE, THE THRILL IS GONE! MOST NY ROCKERS KNOW THIS, AS DOES MICK JAGGER! THE SAME OWNERS ALSO DESTROYED THE BEACON THEATRE!

Not true. Saw 2 shows there the last few weeks.

In 2006 and 2007 a lot of stadiums were seated, e.g., Sheffield UK. But Paris, Cologne and Copenhagen shows I attended had the golden circle standing room which was a lot more fun.

I don't prefer MSG or the Beacon b/c there are so many comp tickets that is next to impossible to get a good seat at these venues.

They would need to perform eight - 8 - shows at MSG to be able to reach out to the approx 160,000 fans who will see them at the two stadium shows in NJ so I think it is an easy calculation both crowd wise and for the tour economy.

I was at the Chicago Bears game yesterday, i have season tickets in the united club. I can confirm no stones banner anywhere and no stones songs played at the stadium. I'm not surprised by this since it was veterans day and its Soldier Field. I did ask a club manager about the stones next spring and he said there are two dates are on the book, but you never know. I was hoping for a Wrigley Field and Soldier Field show but does not look good for Wrigley. I have seen many shows at Soldier, most GA Floor and one seated show, coldplay was seated on the floor. Cheers from Chicago and go Bears

Just saw a photo of a large stones tongue on Twitter that’s been placed on the pavement at the red line station at Roosevelt and Wabash in Chicago and I retweeted it @jjflashgasgas

yes, i will go check that out later today after work. that would make sense since everyone walking to the Bears game yesterday from the Red Line would walk over this amazing logo to Soldier Field, thanks for the update.

All UK shows indoor and out were all seated on the floor on both Licks and ABB Tours apart from floor standing at the 2 indoor Glasgow Licks shows and Isle of Wight festival 2007. Thankfully we're back to routine GA standing here. I stood at 6 UK shows out of 8 plus Ireland.

I just hate seats on the floor. angry smiley Kills the atmosphere imho. If properly organised, standing on the floor needn't be dangerous.
