Mad Sq Garden is locked in

Presuming an MSG connected source, is there any credence to The Who "residency"?
If so, why would that impact potential Stones dates?

....every tour he predicts the Stones will definitely play MSG....I think he is overdue to get one right.

Question: Can a residency be done in an arena that has pro basketball and hockey in season?

Well, if a residency consists of 2 shows a week, I guess it's possibleeye rolling smiley

Red Rocks - PLEASE!! I’ve only heard about how great a concert venue it is - I would make the trip from Jersey - was jazzed by the rumor in 2015 only to be disappointed when they didn’t announce it.

While I trust in Stonesdoug, as far as I know there hasn't been any other info. of the Who at MSG except for that short quote.

Love the idea of a Red Rocks show.

Gotta believe it's on their list of venues they'd like to play as well, if such a list still exists.
Greatest thing about Red Rocks, imo, is that as beautiful as the surroundings are for the fans, the musicians are blown away as well and often deliver truly inspired performances.

Wouldn't have to necessarily make their money from ticket sales, they could film it like they did Cuba, and/or release a live album from it cool smiley
Besides, The Beatles played it winking smiley

RR is definitely on my bucket list, but if bands that usually play ballrooms and theatres can sell this place out, The Stones would have to do multiple nights just to satisfy ticket demand, and because they don't do shows back to back any more (as much for insurance purposes as them needing a rest), the logistics become a bit iffy - not to mention shows there do get cancelled for bad weather, and the altitude (6500ft, or 1980m) might be a bit taxing on some of the aging baby boomer crowd, as well as perhaps the Stones themselves.
Also, there would probably be some concern by the city of Denver, who owns and runs the amphitheatre about hordes of ticketless climbing the rocks or whatnot, trying to get in. It would be a bit of a security nightmare.

I'd love to see it, but, in short, The Stones are simply too big an act for this venue.

You're right of course, but..

If done similarly to their club shows, perhaps with Denver being a tour opener, or a stop, they could knock some other act off the bill (like the Fonda show) and pull off a surprise gig.
As for satisfying demand, they wouldn't, but a nearby show (or two) could handle that. Just like outside The Fonda (believe me I know winking smiley) once the show was underway, the crowds that heard about it last minute and didn't get in would likely be very manageable, if rumors were kept under wraps and roads closed etc.
Been to RR several times with a friend of mine up in years and not very mobile, and we did just fine (they also offer cart rides to the amphitheater for those in need)
Would make a heck of a club gig right before the tour, and the film from it could be spectacular!

Mad Square Garden IS locked in!

Thx, potus43 for the heads up.

I guess The Who booked the MSG and the Stones just booked a different period. Maybe The Who booked end of April and the Stones locked in mid-May or something. Anyway - my fingers are on the keyboard ready to press the "Book this flight to NYC"-button. We will have to wait until next year obviously.

I expect this timing:
April 27 tour start, off announcement Feb 10, first BV list Jan 15

Zip Code: First gig May 20, off Ann 31 March, first BV list 5 March.

I am not connected to the MSg. But I understood that the Stones and the who aimed for the same period. Thats all. Bit apparently that got settled.

If the RS play Red Rocks CO (doubtful)
perhaps their sponsor Jeep can design some Segways to help up the mountain.
Make sure you don’t park late, extra 340 steps UP.

Dear RS Sponsor,
Please institute show contests/ giveaway Air Fare credit, hotel, 2 VIP tickets.
Splash it out show off your stuff
make yourself endeared to the RS fans :-)

I hope that don't do red rock. Yes it is a really cool place but it looks like to me the seats get really bad really quick. So if you are not like in the first 15 to 20 rows you will be looking at the top of their heads and a pretty far distance away.

Haven't been to St. Louis since Bigger Bang.

St Louis has been booking 1-3 stadium shows at their baseball park for the past few years (McCartney, U2, Metallica, Kenney Chesney, Journey/Def Leppard), hoping next year's blockbuster will be the Rolling Stones.
