I wasn't suggesting you were trying to run lem off. I understood the logic and rationale you were employing, Bard. You weren't the only one posting. Others had their tempers fraying.

lem can certainly take care of himself, but he's one of us and I didn't want the division mentality to grow. It's very common these days (not just here) to take opinions personal and try to run people off because they regularly annoy us.

I am quite serious about Amazon sponsoring an American Tour
((and ‘Send It To Me’ advert))

Frankly, Jeep was boring. And think of the streaming possibilities—

The United States (and Canada) need some fun. It could be a real blast >grinning smiley<

lem is stating facts as far as grosses and number of shows. Whether you like his conclusions or assumptions is irrelevant. He shouldn't be told to go away. He has an opinion and is a passionate fan. That's why he's here with the rest of us. Do you really want a site that is nothing but group-think? Diversity of opinion is what generates conversation and keeps the board alive.

Diversity is fine...so I just expressed my view.Nobody is forced to share it.
I just thought some of his comparisins and conclusions are far fetched and in parts pretty unfair.
He prefers sometimes a rough tone...no problem.
Guess he's a big guy who can handle a knock here and there.
Nothing more,nothing less.

thumbs up

Some people seem to focus on the so-called attacks of the band, and disregard everything else that particular poster has added to the board.
lem is a valuable member here imo, and whether you agree with what he says or not, there's no denying he's a fan of the Rolling Stones just as all of us are.
If someone sees a particular post as "whining", or the criticism has become "boring", then that's their right, but no need to take it personal and try and shut others down who think differently.
Nothing is 100% sacred imo, and the varying opinions on any given subject without sugarcoating it all is valuable - warts and all - whether it's the Rolling Stones, music in general, visual arts, politics, etc., etc., etc.

A few relevant quotes from others I compiled a few months ago to share in times like these - in fact I think bv should make these quotes part of the rules of the board!

We are all Stones fans and like any disparate group with a shared interest, we have a broad range of opinions and levels of fandom.
Every human on the planet is entitled to their own opinion
- grzegorz67

Please please there is no reason for fighting about these matters. Some fans love this other fans love that. We can't all love the very same thing. - bv

Being a Stones fan is not being a fanatic but living with a band for over 40 years with ist ups and downs.
They need our criticism as much as they need our adoration. It's as simple as that.
- saltoftheearth

You can always ignore the comments you disagree with and simply not respond to them. If you do, there's no need to be argumentative about it.
If you see a poster you're not likely to agree with, simply skip past. It's not so hard.
- grzegorz67

I think humans should be able to accept different opinions whithout acting like cats fighting for territory.- bv

The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function - F. Scott Fitzgerald

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. -Aristotle

I was reading a list of the top tours of the 2010s the other day and the Stones were something like 18th out of 20 during the decade.
It’s amazing how far they’ve fallen really,8 years in and they have no new music and it seems everyone from Springsteen to U2 and even Coldplay have done more concert business.
McCartney had two tours that outsold No Filter and with a couple of top five records and now a number 1 seems to have really outworked the Stones the last few years.
We’re debating about them playing MSG as if it’s 1975 or something, everyone plays the Garden nowadays and sells it out. Like someone said, Phish plays there all the time.
If I were the Stones I’d be nicer to my fan base because it’s getting smaller all the time.If the record bombs They have maybe one more tour of big places and then it’s on to the Indian casino circuit.

Meh.
Feel free to post a link to this mysterious article's slant.
What is true, is every time they've toured in the 2010's they've been at or near the top in terms of attendance records and revenues per show. What is also true is they can sell out any venue of their choosing, any time of their choosing.

I could post a link but it’s so mysterious that I can’t.you need to go on the dark web and find a guy named “the shadow”you’ll need to pay him in cryptocurrency but for the right price he’ll Give you the numbers.
Or you could check pollstar, billboard etc or even let wiki do the work for you and punch in”top tours of the 2010s”
What you’ll find is a band with no new music for 13 years languishing at the bottom of the top twenty touring acts putting 45 or 50 thousand tickets on sale in stadiums that could hold 60 to 80 and calling it a sellout.
When you run your mouth for decades about “playing till you drop like the old blues guys” or Keith’s “Mcartney couldn’t keep up with our pace” and then come with this weak ass 14 date tour crap, cmon.

I’m gonna give you a little homework assignment Mr D-tell me how old B B King was when he died and how many shows he did in the last five years of his life.Ill be waiting.

I am sorry about my comments to you Lem, Okay?

Right Hairball...and why do you think bv opened a thread about setlists and other complaints ?

I didn't start it in first place,I don't take any criticism of the stones, albums, tours whatever personal but I got an attitude !
If I think something is unfair or disrespectful
I state my opinion.
And yes, sometimes the complaints and whining are getting boring,so what ?

And for the record...I never told anyone to leave the board !

I hope there will be a fine tour next year and much fun to those attending the shows or following it one way or another.

No worries , I was actually reading a thread one time to catch up because I hadn’t posted for awhile and as I read one of the comments I was thinking “what’s this jerks problem?” then I looked and it was MY POST!
it comes from a combination of not being able to write and growing up reading too much Lester Bangs.
The attempts at witty sarcasm do,at times, tend to look like a simple bad attitude in cold black and white.
I remember when Goats Head came out,
The album was a monster, topped the charts for weeks and Angie was everywhere on the radio.
Lester basically said it was a good but not great record and that it signaled the end of the Stones golden age.the negative mail poured in”how dare you talk that way!!”

14 shows and then a 7 month break,a new set of rehearsals and 14 more shows is a “28 date tour” ok, again look how many shows the other acts did.

Considering how many contemporary artists are either retired or undertaking farewell tours perhaps it would be better to count ones blessings and enjoy the fact we are getting more than a months worth of shows each year.

I am overjoyed that I can look forward to another Rolling Stones tour in 2019, and hopeful that a new album may just come our way
sometime soon.

thumbs up

We are talking about people who are in their mid seventies or even older.
I know a lot of people in this age who aren't able to walk or talk, suffering from diseases,whatever...

They owe us nothing..not a damned mini tour with the predictable setlist, not another album...simply nothing.
But they still tour, probably do some work on an album...and people keep on complaining.
If one don't want to fork out a lot of money for very expensive tickets...don't go.
But complaining and whining seems to be much more fun for some...I think this is getting boring.

kool your correct. they owe us nothing and we owe them nothing, which is the bloody point. I did not see them on the last uk tour due to health reasons and getting bloody older . ha (but thanx to a lot of cats on here no doubt I saw them in my living room courtesy of YouTube ). but really, moaning about shit like this , come on,, really !!!!

So, I wonder if they will just do multiple shows in big cities (if it's an arena tour) which means few shows on the left coast....if so probably won't do much traveling for this tour, but we'll seeeye rolling smiley

Timing is everything...

The brand new Chase Center in SF opens next August/September... if they're doing indoor shows in the late Summer, I would think they would be a good bet to play some of the first shows in there.

Can't come soon enough for me!

Ok,don’t freak out on me people but can we get 20 shows in the States? Maybe even 25? That’s not too much to ask is it.
They’re gonna tour on the new album so step on the gas.. maybe just a little bit?

You always get something extra in the US, be it setlists or amount of shows.

Here in Europe we get 14 shows. On the Zip Code-tour you got 17 shows..

In 2013 you got 20 club/arena shows.

Top one has to be an older pic that was just posted yesterday.

"Mick Jagger leaving rehearsals in Toronto. Just caught him heading to his limo"! - Stardaruni

Probably just his description of when he took the pic (2002?), but a bit misleading and/or badly worded making it sound as if it just happened.

The second pic by Ken Tyburski mentions no rehearsal, only "tonight and today", but also looks to be an older pic.

And here's a pic posted by Mick yesterday with a caption of "One way to avoid the traffic". but no location given (note his hair is much lighter than both pics above)
Looking quite stylish...

I would remove that unless you want your friend cut off. The whole purpose of sources, whether they're being fed good info or bad, is they be protected. Enough of us have a pretty good idea of who that individual is. You don't need them getting slapped down because someone was unwise enough to ask who is your source for insider information.

left.

She and her husband were in shock..They didn't bother Mick as
they are both about his age.

My friend there did not name the source, and as I am not naming my friend and have no idea who the source is, I am not outing anyone. God knows there are enough Stones fans in Argentina, so I would not doubt it if a number of folks down there have the same info.
