The 14 show committment was under the old contract that expired this year. Seems to work for them, though, so we'll see what Joyce negotiates.

I could probably go back and do the research but how far out do real rumored dates and venues start circulating for tours? and the tour itself is announced about 3 months in advance? If this rumored tour is going to be May- July we should start to see details unfold December-January?

.....the one place you might get a string of theatre dates would be NYC...why?..bc it is the center of the universe and they could get $$$$$ per seat...or the biggest buzzzzzzzzzzzz....NYC whatever your preconceived or imagined notions of the new Times Square are/i is still the one and only.... NYC.

The Rolling Stones think of a series of shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC in 2019, 50 years after their first presentation, which was one of the most famous live performances of their career: Get Yer Ya-Yas Out.

someone knows if this is true or is a fake news_!!

You'll have to provide a link or a source first,..

Fan wankery only as far as a residency is concerned. This isn't Springsteen or Billy Joel. New York may love the Stones but they don't love them enough for a residency. My vote is against I fear.

Likely whoever "the source" is, they've gotten their information from here.

Bjornulf quite some time ago mentioned that it was likely the upcoming NA tour would consist of several cities with multiple shows in each, as opposed to the usual 14 or so cities that has been the pattern. Cities then have been speculated about, and of course MSG gets put high on the speculation list. I think they'll do two shows per city, and of course the band could sell out a couple shows there as well as several other different NYC area venues.

I don't doubt MSG is happening. I don't doubt more than one show. I do doubt a series of shows at MSG.

There's no way they're doing a series at MSG. They haven't done that like, ever.

The Stones haven't played MSG since 2006 so there's no guarantee they are playing there next year either!

well the last time i saw them in person at MSG was 43 years ago I guess.
Spring of 75, remember it well It was Spring. And it was 1975.
I remember it well.
The last time before that time that I saw them in person at MSG was 46 1/2 years ago. It was pretty good. Damn good I'd say.
Well I guess that OLD MSG was rebuilt or something?
Is it the same capacity sorta? Like an Arena, say 18 to 20 thou, as it was back then.
So very much history there; also a lot of childhood memories with Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus, with an ACE side-show, that we got to go
to once a year. In '75 it was sorta hard to tell the differnce as far as costumery. It's only in retrospect I can really appreciate the dead-eyed flash decadence of it all. I'm having a gas finding the best of the best those rockin' years...
just amazing that bordering on a half friggin century later, those old grandfathers are gonna be the talk of the Big Town again.
Their homage to the city in shattered remains a studio classic with a lot of clever bite and edge, as well we all know here. well, i waw the last to know in a way; i'm such the big 'chunka' guy, that basic root note to the 4 i think...it's two notes but if the right one @#$%& is riding the horse it's gonna get some ground covered; even hard ground and messy trails. That's what I heard anyway.
Keith can damn sure get ONE of them pretty much right, and ol' Ronnie can nail the frick outta the other...and Charlie can thud brush and roll a tom and mick can do ballet fortificaton moves all night in feathers and what have we got?
A stuttering mess that could sorta catch a roll and i like it, i like it a lot.

but naw, i was late to the part with Shattered, Now I love it.
it all seemed samey but so do the best James Brown stuff on King and Federal and I'm STILL all over that catalog. James don't let them change a chord until he gets off, sorta.
the guitars slay me as does the rest of it.
sometimes i don't 'get' a Stones song, and then after awhile I will rely it ands love it. also sometimes, even tho i'm a bucket-brigade guy for stuff like All Down The Line (maybe my all time favorite Rolling Stones song of all of them), I liked the feel and sound of "new faces" but most fans did not.
i thought Mick was taking a chance and being vulnerable with real lyrics facing advancing years. Fans thought it was a Suckstock Festival and people were paying to get out.
well at least i stuck to the topic this time.
progress dondha think?

My guess is they will play were ever it makes financial sense - at least as far
as NY venues.

A 5 year contract with AEG dating back to 2013? Would be nice to see a "format" change for sure...

I was reading a list of the top tours of the 2010s the other day and the Stones were something like 18th out of 20 during the decade.
It’s amazing how far they’ve fallen really,8 years in and they have no new music and it seems everyone from Springsteen to U2 and even Coldplay have done more concert business.
McCartney had two tours that outsold No Filter and with a couple of top five records and now a number 1 seems to have really outworked the Stones the last few years.
We’re debating about them playing MSG as if it’s 1975 or something, everyone plays the Garden nowadays and sells it out. Like someone said, Phish plays there all the time.
If I were the Stones I’d be nicer to my fan base because it’s getting smaller all the time.If the record bombs They have maybe one more tour of big places and then it’s on to the Indian casino circuit.

Meh.
Feel free to post a link to this mysterious article's slant.
What is true, is every time they've toured in the 2010's they've been at or near the top in terms of attendance records and revenues per show. What is also true is they can sell out any venue of their choosing, any time of their choosing.

I could post a link but it’s so mysterious that I can’t.you need to go on the dark web and find a guy named “the shadow”you’ll need to pay him in cryptocurrency but for the right price he’ll Give you the numbers.
Or you could check pollstar, billboard etc or even let wiki do the work for you and punch in”top tours of the 2010s”
What you’ll find is a band with no new music for 13 years languishing at the bottom of the top twenty touring acts putting 45 or 50 thousand tickets on sale in stadiums that could hold 60 to 80 and calling it a sellout.
When you run your mouth for decades about “playing till you drop like the old blues guys” or Keith’s “Mcartney couldn’t keep up with our pace” and then come with this weak ass 14 date tour crap, cmon.

I’m gonna give you a little homework assignment Mr D-tell me how old B B King was when he died and how many shows he did in the last five years of his life.Ill be waiting.

Well, Lem, why don't you check the numbers for the 2017/18-tour. Including a 5 shows mini-tour (2012) in the math isn't really relevant.

And I fail to see what's so bad with a bunch of semi-retired mid/late 70 year olds still are topping the album charts and maintaining their spot among the top 20 acts in the entire world?

BB King had to work that hard to cling on to the top 500, although he deserved to be way higher.

Was the Keith quote from between 2012 and 2018, btw?

So, what's your point?

Really looking forward to the next NA leg..

Six years ago they started an amazing run of live shows that I am so grateful is continuing. There really is not much comparable in life to the excitement (still) and the anticipation of the band hitting the stage. Those few minutes right before the lights come up and the first notes played are the absolute best.
Can't wait!

Mick is really up on things in NY. He knew never to play Long Island and he knows the NEW MSG is shit. They will play Barclay or CitiField or Forest Hills.

For the life of me I don’t understand why everyone gets so defensive about this.
We all love the band, that’s a given, but why get upset when I simply point out the lazy pace they’re keeping.
I can show most of you a random picture of any of the Stones and you could tell me what year it’s from but you are gonna act like you haven’t heard, for years,”we wanna see how far we can take this thing”and “the old blues cats played till they dropped”
I don’t even like McCartney or The Beatles,I think most of their music was acid pop drivel.I think Paul’s a bit of a phony with that happy go lucky act but he’s as old as the Stones and has outworked them so bad it’s not funny.
His last tour a couple of years ago had 49 shows in The States,49.
Willie Nelson does about 30 or 40 shows a year by bus and Dandy, B.B. didn’t HAVE to do anything,he was a multimillionaire when he died and was still doing over 200 shows a year.
If the guys would say they’re not really in the game anymore it wouldn’t be so bad but promoting a ROLLING STONES TOUR and doing 14 shows is weak.

It is not possible to compare McCartney, Willie Nelson with the Stones. I think their shows are different.

Is McCartney, Willie Nelson moving like Mick ? even like Keith or Ronnie ?

How old are their drummers ? Charlie is not very young, but he still performing. He's very impressive, I fully understand he needs some rest.
"The drummer thinks he is dynamite" and he really is.
