If my count is correct, the next show will be No. 25 at The Garden.

I, for one, appreciate that you announce your status often when you post.

I'm going to emulate that on my next post.

I think the funny thing about this whole thread is that given the fact hat it appears that the Stones are coming back to the US in 2019, betting on them playing a run at MSG isn't exactly a risky call....

Why is NYC such a big thing? I’ve seen better shows in places like Hersey PA. and Buffalo , Ny. Better crowds too

bc NYC is the biggest and most commercially important city in the world. If you can make it there...you can make it anywhere...NY NY.....
and do it your way

It is this fall.

Currently? No. It's summer. Will be for a while, regardless of the equinox.

there is no summer in Buffalo. we go from winter, then road repair then fall.

That's funny. I used to live in Indianapolis and only Buffalo could make me feel better about living there in winter.

I have a general question for all of you...
Why is MSG considered, by some, to be the "home" of The Stones?

I get the significance of the arena and the live album and the lore of NYC but...

When you compare the Stones to other touring artists, they really haven't spent a lot of time in the building:

Billy Joel = 100+ concerts
Phish = 56 concerts
Grateful Dead = 53 concerts
Elton John = 50+ concerts
Bruce = 47 concerts
Madonna = 31 concerts

I'm 41 and live in the US, I don't think the Stones are building a younger, new fan base here. First and foremost are the ticket costs. ~ $500 is rent for the month or food and bar tabs for a month. Young kids are going to club or theater shgows at $60 a pop. I also don't get the impression younger people really care about a rock and roll band from the mid 60s, even if it is the Stones. If I compare San Diego to Buenos Aires it's two totally different things. San Diego was doctors and lawyers in their 60s, drinking white wine and taking their wives out for a nostalgic evening w the Rolling Stones at $600 a clip. Buenos Aires was 80k rabid fans raging from age 14-70. So rabid they didn't even sell beer in the stadium. There was nothing nostalgic about it. It was electric, relevant, cathartic, life affirming rock and roll!

That said, the Stones will still fill stadiums this summer and I can't wait to catch as many shows as possible.

As far as MSG- It's a venue (not just for music) of lore. So many classic shows, not to mention hockey games, basketball games, boxing matches have taken place there. But NYC is not the same NYC of the 60s and 70s. MSG is still a special hall but there's no grit or funkiness to NYC these days. Times Square is all neon and chain restuarants, gone are the days of pimps and peep shows. MSG has been redone, people aren't standing on chairs and going bonkers when the band hits the stage. The hype of MSG is more a thing of legend, no longer a magical place on it's own.

I agree w Kurt, I don't see MSG as the home of the Stones as much as the home of legend.

Imagine The Stones playing around 10 nights at the Beacon Theater (ala Allman Bros., Dylan, Steely Dan, etc.)...
All shows would sell out fast.
That place would go nuts !!! Bonkers!!

I'd pay an obscene amount of money to see the Stones one time in a theater. Good for them for being able to fill stadiums still but what a treat it would be for the band the fans to go out playing much more intimate rooms.

Unless they found some kindness in their hearts and gave back to the fans, then it would be affordable for all and would just involve alot of luck.
All Licks theater/club shows were very reasonably priced (I paid between $75-$100 apprx. on average for three shows), and pretty sure almost every small show they've done publicly has been reasonably priced.
The one exception I can think of is the Vegas Joint show in 2002 where tickets were priced very high at apprx. $1,000 on average.

All that said, doubt it would ever happen, and the fact they didn't play a club warmup show for the No Filter tour doesn't bode well for even a single small show when they return to to NA, but never say never...
