When Ray talks about a Kinks reunion while not promoting a solo project or a new Kinks reissue, I'll perk up. Until then, it's just what Ray does to get a headline. I don't blame him, but I've stopped believing it might happen.

dave though has also mentioned him and ray have worked on some stuff

True, but I think a new Stones album is far more likely.

haha too true; oh rocky; even broken hearts heal after awhile (or so I've heard; never believed it for a second) but
that ol' sly rayster's gonna have to get up PRETTY damn early if he's
gonna slide anothre Bait & Switch on us, eh? It's like we don't have feeling or something, cause we're not famous. I think that Knight things gone to his head, frankly.
That's pretty cheap stuff on Ray's part. I get it now, he could have been
saying "It's a yes from me" referring to himself in the third person or something gramatic. Or they could have asked 'how many have bunions,' or something.
I'm starting to not trust him; and that's what a relationship is built on.
Ask Dave.

apart from all that, i AM easy suckerbait cause I'm such a big fan.
I can't help but think; I know it's not likely at all; but thinking
wow 3 of four originals are still alive. avory has kept sharp with that
Kinks cover band; at least I think he's still playing sort of regularly;
and it's mistake to under-estimate Mick Avory imo.
Also, Dave; he was (is still capable?) just massively, and consistenly,
wonderful guitar player. Melodic and tuneful and rolling....
....as seemingly lost (and it's not something I'll ever take a cheap
shot at) and a little well, ... he's been through a LOT w a serious
illness and he wants to keep woring....can't help but fantasize that:
IF they really would hang together, go through a process with each other, a dediated process; i think things could jell. Could a little advisely,
but i'd be one of the first to get a copy without hearing a note.
I'd like to see it happen very much; IF they really could figure
out a way to get in a steady work flow. They are such a massively original
and truly amazingly band. The songwriting, well all of it; Brilliant imo,
most all of a MASSIVE, and massively brilliant, catalog.

imo, 'Village Green...' is all the more unique and brilliant when considering when it was released.
The general stylistic 'genres' per se, tho of course these are individual efforts with differnt feels and all that...
,..but Village Green was pretty much directly opposite the post-psychelic,
bit harder rock, that was coming out then.
I mean a Kinks record would
have great individualty, even if it was blues covers. (the early club sets
featured covers that The Stones would have related to and appreciated)....
...songs like "phenemonal cat' and the like.
You can't really call it psychedelic mood music with too much credibility, or anything else commercially released from big invasion rock stars.
Tho there WAS a lot of various 'experimentation' at the time. I think this entire effort a unique departure from what would be generally expectedf for a UK rock band.

I recall at the time not liking it. For me to admit that about a Kinks LP, if you knew me personally,
would def establish my credibilty as an honest fan, cause I think I 'get' them as an original 'cult' fan,
(when folks just dug their hit singles for the most part),
in the early going years. You know that proprietary (sp?) way fans
feel superior to casual fans..... doh, but:
...i've done the same with Stones periods, and tours, that I went back to gratefully; finally 'getting it.'
With 'green...' it didn't really take that long. but I DID put it aside
upon first hearing; reaching more for the crunch, chunka and rolling bottom.
If that sounds like someone I would date, well, it sure is...
ho ho, but not too long after getting it upon release, I made time for it
when I was just neutral and open; and then I got it. When 'Arthur'
came out, I was trained. I was going to accept whatever The Kinks gave me
on it's own unique procenium.

Ray's on his own planet; I'm glad he visits ours, with messages. But this was a unique vision that was a real departure
for the band that started their career with very intense heavy classic hard electric guitar; disintct for it's revelatory dirtiness, even back in '64.
Their personal progression as musicians was radical.

Let us not forget "Session Man" and that your namesake, Mr. Hopkins did his own turn with England's Other Greatest Rock ''n' Roll Band.

Former Kinks member Dave Davies is releasing an album of never-before-heard solo material. Titled Decade, the album represents material recorded from 1971 to 1979 and arrives this October 12 via Red River Entertainment/Green Amp.

“I am so pleased that after all this time these tracks are being released to see the light of day,” Davies wrote in a statement. “These songs have been silently nagging at me to be recognised all these years. At last I can proudly present this album Decade to the world.”

Included with the release is the single “Cradle to the Grave,” which can be heard below ahead of the release. Davies’ most recent solo album, Rippin’ Up Time, was released in 2014. Earlier this year, The Kinks announced that they’d be reissuing their 1968 album The Village Green Preservation Society this year for its 50th anniversary. The band also said that they’d be reuniting to record their first new album album in 25 years. Listen to their latest single “Cradle to the Grave” below.

A fantastic and unique album. The way they manage to balance their innocent pop/music hall/psychedelic rock is pure masterclass. VG and Arthur are two of my favourite albums from ANY artist/band.

Wicked Annabella is perhaps what the Stones were aiming at with their psychedelic rockers on Satanic? Great, great tune.
