Belgium over Brazil
France over Uruguay
Russia over Croatia
England over Sweden

Then,

France over Belgium
England over Russia

Then,
France vs. England...I can't choose, probably France.
Belgium over Brazil ?
are you ready to bet your patrimony on that prognostic ?

it would be some kind of miracle to me...

Well, speaking as a Belgian who picked France as a personal favourite for the ultimate victory before the tournament started (and is sticking with that), and also saw Brasil play some réally solid football, genuine champions’ style, growing into ‘it’ as the tournament progressed, I must say that if you really would consider it “a miracle” if Belgium would beat Brasil, you haven’t been paying attention for a while... or you’re just very easily shocked. smoking smiley
easily shocked ? I need much more than this.

I just think that Brazil is getting stronger and stronger while Belgium (3rd nation at fifa ranking) was very close to lose their game against Japan.

Belgians have shown some weakness in defense and attack too.

I'm very sorry but I'm afraid they will have to pack their things tomorrow morning and clean up the cloakrooms before leaving smoking smiley

I’m sure you know your game -
As do I.
So just in case: agreement in disagreement, OK. I’m on holiday, currently in NYC, so I’m not looking for a football argument... smoking smiley

But:

(A) for the record, I think Brasil will win today.
(B ) weakness in defence? One straight error - Vertongen, first Japan goal - that’s it. The rest was mega-solid defending.
(C) weakness in attack? 11 goals in 4 matches & 3 different attacking line-ups... Lukaku serious contender for tournament goal scorer (especially since England & Harry Kane will be “coming home” very very soon...) - you gotta be kidding, right?!

Anyway - enjoy todays matches! (And that goes out to all of you)
well I must admit I made a wrong analysis about Belgium.

So, congratulations to your team and now I see things in a different way.
Belgium is a very serious opponent to France and I'm sure that the French coach is aware of that.

To me, it's fifty fifty even if Belgium is favourite regarding its fifa ranking.

Well this is a bummer... no futbol for me tomorrow. The only reason I can figure that FOX would choose to NOT show these matches tomorrow over-the-air in the US, on their main channel, is to hook people into having cable... and that ship has sailed. It is a disservice to people trying to be fans of World Cup to not show the matches tomorrow over the air.

July 6, 10:00a ET Uruguay vs. France FS1
July 6, 2:00p ET Brazil vs. Belgium FS1
July 7, 10:00a ET Sweden vs. England FOX
July 7, 2:00p ET Russia vs. Croatia FOX

July 6 Games on Free Over the Air TV on Telemundo (#47 in NYC)

Thanks man, that was a good tip, but when I checked both Telemundo and Univision but neither had the futbol here... so... I sepnt the day at the lake.

Okey, 6 teams still left in the tournament. Out of which 4 have never won the WC. Tomorrow there will only be 4 teams left. Good luck to everyone. I hope the games will be decided
within 120 minutes and on open field goals. Not penalties. May the best teams win. And I apologize if I went on to hard about Harry Kane. After all I'm Swedish and, of course, roots for my own team.

England will be forever recorded as having invented the game by dint of devising the first set of rules, in 1863.

But in reality, the game had been played informally in both Scotland and England for centuries beforehand, and many historians acknowledge that it was the Scots who perfected football as a team game rather than individuals having a kick about. Indeed, the early years of the Scotland v England Fixture (the World’s oldest international rivalry and fixture) were dominated by the Scots. It’s an incontrovertible historic fact that England set down the first rules but to say that they invented the game is far from entirely true.

[en.m.wikipedia.org]–Scotland_football_rivalry

Unfortunately Scotland has withered into being an irrelevant footballing backwater in the last 30 years and with incompetent self serving clowns in charge of the Scottish FA, that won’t be changing any time soon. But Scotland’s contribution to the development of the game must not be lost to history.

It's a ridiculously uneven draw with a strong side and a weak side. France v Belgium is the Final before the final and I expect whoever wins that game will win the tournament. England are limited really and have benefited from a kind draw and the defeat they secretly wanted against Belgium. They will struggle against a decent side, imho.

well done, England. Fantastic achievement for an inexperienced, unfancied young team

Refreshing change from the performances of so many of their underachieving, overhyped prima donnas of recent tournaments.

England working as a team with no one to pin every little thing on? And it works! It’s as if they finally found the right formula. I hope they go all the way.

If England really want to win this World Cup, they will have to play a bit better. Because it was not a beautiful game. Just my opinion.

England played best out of the two sides and so glad they won.

Not sure if it was just me, but not what I call an exciting game of good football.

A few missed chances , but England now in the Semi's and a very good chance of getting to the Final.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was excellent for England and made some really good saves.

You can do it England. thumbs up

The path is clear now. There is no reason England can't beat Belgium or France if they make it to the final.

Still batting 1000!

OK, Russia over Croatia now...

then, France over Belgium, England over Russia....

and then...
