Germany almost always in the finals or semi-finals of the Euro or World Cup, current champions....I'm not for Germany by any means, but I'd take that type of record nonetheless.

They need a scorer like Miroslav Klose, to me, that shows how important he was to the team.

I'm from Germany too - and I'm also glad that they failed. I'm normally no Soccer/Football fan (but watching e.g. the World Cups) and I hope that Germany will now wake-up from their other failures like Diesel-Cars, uninspired Merkel-politics, etc ....

That's more or less what I feel about Brazil's national team.

I say....what happened? I thought we were out. 3-0 against Mexico. And then Germany out. Strange days indeed...

not too strange – since Germany played 2,5 poor matches and Sweden obviouly at least one very good one

My critical eye is still in work though. Marcus Berg still looks slow. He can't break loose. Defenders always seems to catch up on him. He was lucky with the penalty this time (he was robbed against Germany though).
Emil Forsberg, who is supposed to be the creative player, is out of form. Misses many opportunities. We have a rock in the defence though: "Granen"! He is the heart of the team.

That Saturday game, Sweden vs. Germany was really a heartbreaker, even I felt that one.

A friend showed me this link, how was Sweden not given this penalty versus Germany.

So, it's all fun to watch, not to get too serious about.

German fans go home devastated! Brings back sad memories of 2002 for the French fans. After Argentina that were on the brink who's next? Brazil tonight?

I am from England and love good football from anywhere in the world, but Germany just haven't played up to standard in this World Cup.

Not surprised they didn't make the next stage.

Nothing like the confident ,skilled team that thrashed Brazil 7-1 in the last Tournament.

Argentina managed to get to next stage and Brazil play tonight and no sure thing that they will make it.

Could be teams like England, Uruguay , Croatia, Switzerland and Serbia that maybe get to the Semi's and the Final, although Spain and Portugal are still there as well.
Hope England will be there, as they are doing really well so far compared to past performances.

England has had a very good draw and will probably face their first real opposition in the quarterfinals. Then we will see. But who knows in this WC. Any team can go out at any stage.

England may well face Japan who would be a stiff test for most teams in the tournament. You really can't write anyone off...

Or in the round 16, potentially, England could play Colombia, another tough draw, Senegal could advance as well.

In the last Euro, England crashed out to Iceland so I think it's clear, don't take anyone lightly.

For those interested in history: Yekaterinburg (after Catherine I, Peter the Great's wife) where Sweden won against Mexico today was the place for the elimination of The House of Romanov.
The second dynasty to rule Russia since 1613. On the night between 16-17 July in 1918 Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra and their five children were executed by Bolshevik troops.
Their servants weren't spared either. Almost one hundred years ago..

It is not too surprising that Germany is out. Anyway, Joachim Löw has been a successful coach of the national team, he deserves respect. I am rather sure that he will resign within the next days. And I hope somebody else will resign in the near future as well...

your qualification is a surprise, ours was rather expected

cant believe i saw a german side that lacked so much pace, they couldnt pass the ball quickly to set up counter attacks, another failing, despite that they still created enough chances to score 2 or 3.

usually germany are a well oiled machine, if one part looks like failing, power is transfered to another part, today the whole machine failed.

annoyed argentina and mexico got through to the knockout, nothing personal i just hate teams qualifying with a negative goal difference.

I had predicted Sweden and Germany to the next round. Mexico was the big surprise, imo. Sweden beat Holland and Italy on their way to Russia.

Congrats to Switzerland as well, although it was foolish keeping their best defenders on the pitch when Brazil had a 2-0 lead.

Now Lichtsteiner and Schär are out for the Sweden-match...

Gut! Low is staying. It's absolute rubbish in a lot of these cases that a manager should leave just because of one tournament performance.

Sometimes, it's better to stick it out.

germany are a great footballing nation.

that dont change for 1 or 2 world cups.

4 times out of the last 5 world cups have the winning side went out early in the next world cup. but of course france italy ,spain dont get the critisism germany do.

today first world cup germany have went out before england since 1966.

so whos record should be looked at.

england of course are invincible again, thats what beating panama does.

role on a big team then review your critisism of german football.

it is far easier to stop somebody doing something than to do it yourself.

100% agreed on that one thumbs up

Applies to football and absolutely everything else in life. Easier to be a wrecker than a doer.
