This is the one I've really been looking forward to - my 64th Stones gig but only the 3rd where I've not had to worry about arranging somewhere to stay!


For those of you wondering where to go before the gig, don't worry Cardiff city centre is full of pubs - you won't go hungry or thirsty. To answer a question BV asked on another thread, yes Brains is a Cardiff brewery.

At work in Swindon. I'm booked on the 12.40 train to Cardiff. Station is a 10 minute walk away from my office. This is logistically the easiest gig of the tour for me. I'm solo Lucky Dipping today and as a 51 yo male I'm unlikely to benefit from any 'secret selection' but I'm not giving up. I'll be there with my fingers crossed. Looking forward to this, especially as it looks likely I'll get my 1st ever live performance of Cloud.

Ta Mr Brummie . I scored my 1st ever LD pit at your 'home' gig of Coventry. I was accompanied by my photogenic sister, attending her 1st and probably only Stones gig....

Well it's a good job you're in GC tonight then Judging by the video Cristiano sniffed out, GC looks small here so you'll get a great spot from anywhere in there and can safely turn up whenever you like.

I've had 2 Pits out of 6 on this tour (all LDs) so far and am happy to accept the vagaries of Lucky Dips though some people seem to get Pits all or most of the time... I'd be very happy with GA here tbh as it's still possible to get close with a bit of queueing up.

Getting excited, even though I've been to every show without exception

Can't stress strongly enough anyone travelling on M4 from London direction make sure you are through the Severn bridge tolls before 3pm. Queues there and through Newport will be horrendous. I know the weather was awful but it took my daughter 4 hours from Bristol last year for Coldplay. She left at 4 pm and ran in to the stadium just as the show started.

Luckily I am travelling from Swansea, leaving just after 2pm show no.5 for me.

Good points......... esp Newport, a real bottle neck......(Travelling from Swansea too..........

I am not going now, but if I had, I was going to drive to Bristol Parkway and take a train in from there.

I will be at the The Wetherspoon pub The Great Western, 64 St Mary St, near Cardiff Central, some time around 5pm, on my way to the show, unless there is suggestions for a better place in the city.

Best litho yet by far! Second best is South Hampton in my opinion.

Well, it' s always a matter of taste. Saying this as a graphics artist I think it' s terrible. Nearly as bad as Manchester.

In my point of view it's not a great poster.

The Tongue is compressed, the colors aren't great either.
And there is no harmony with the previous posters : no mention of the tour's name, no venue name...

This tour's lithos are not ruled by a clear graphical charter.

Looks like they hadn't much choice or time to decide or edit the design.

Severn Bridge to Junction 26 horrendous already and I have just driven twice around the city centre because NOBODY in Cardiff knew where the Civic Centre was (where my parking is booked) or which bit of the extensive site the booked parking was in when I found it... Oh well, I'm here.

Yay..Cardiff is Stones City. Best of luck getting in the Great Weston by the way..PACKED and then some.

undertheradar posted earlier about the inflatable palm trees in evidence during the 2006 tour. I was lucky enough to be FOS for their last Cardiff concert amongst several trees being frantically waved in Keith's direction.

Several years later, maybe 2012 time, I was in Cardiff on business, staying at a Travelodge in the city centre, and in the corner of the hotel room was one still fully inflated palm tree just waiting to be waved. I couldn't resist.

Before that 2006 concert tickets were being sold on lastminute.com, maybe a month before the concert. I paid £45 for a 'second price lower tier' ticket, can't remember the full price. It was a promotion advertised in Saga magazine, my late mother used to subscribe to. I then sold this on the night for what I paid and took up the generosity of a fellow IORRian offering the spare 2nd row FOS seated ticket at face value, which I think from memory was £60.

Can anyone post a pic of the actual litho, as sold on the show.

I'm pretty sure the official litho has the date on it. Cool that they used the different variance for the shirt. That's really good too in my opinion.
