Hi - Manchester City centre is fabulous - great town but around old Trafford not so much. If you are in the centre anywhere in the Northern Quarter is pretty cool. But would suggest Oyster Bar opposite Harvey Nichols (mock Tudor building big outside space). Then if you want a drink closer by get the tram from the centre to media City. Lime Bar (where hopefully there might be a meet up) and dockyard and craft brew are all nice and you can then walk 30 minutes along the canal to the stadium from there.

Closer still is Hotel football (8 mins from stadium) built and owned by the famous class of ‘92 exMan United players (Giggs Scholes, Beckhham and Neville brothers). They have a bar open to the public.

Last resort is Bishops Blaze - but rough big united pub and a whetherspoons so cheap but as it’s weatherspoons they won’t play music.

I spent two hours messing around in Manchester on my way from the airport via Oxford Road Station and eventually my hotel near Old Trafford so I don't have a clue about city center pubs. In my area, Salford Quays, one mile i.e. 1.6 km from Old Trafford, there are a two large pubs with food service. One of them are this one, right next to the Salford Quays tram stop, recommended as a meetinmg place in this area:

There are also a couple of restaurants next to it, if you don't like pub food. This one was great when I needed food late last night and The Matchstick Man kitchen had closed:

The worker bee took on significance for the city during England’s Industrial Revolution as a symbol of the hardworking Mancunian and the city as a buzzing hive of manufacturing. In 1842, it was included on the crest of the city’s coat of arms, flying over a globe to highlight Manchester’s international links and status. When the Town Hall opened in 1877, bees could found adorning a number of surfaces and were later used in 1912 on the clock faces of the Refuge Assurance clock tower, the tallest structure in the city for many years.

The popularity of the symbolic bee has grown in recent years. After a terrorist attack at a music concert in Manchester in 2017, the city reintroduced and revitalized the worker bee.
