I would not thank you for Thatcher although I will not go there

Ditto. I originally come from West Central Scotland and I am 51 years old. I don’t need to say any more and I won’t.

...

Not sure if mentioned, but I'd like to thank England for

Dick Denney and Tom Jennings - Vox:

Nothing better amp wise for me than the vox amps made under their guidance.

The Macari's and Gary Hurst - Sola Sound Tone Bender MKI - MKII:

They created two sublime fuzzy monsters that I love more than 50 years later. Macari's went on to develop Colorsound pedals.

the magic roundabout.

French, created by Serge Danot.
Unless you mean the one in Swindon.

That roundabout is half s mile from my office and I drive over it twice a day every working day. I’ve done so for the last 28 years. You get used to it. There are several permissible ways of crossing it. Contretemps between motorists are a regular occurrence and ‘hand signals’ are frequently exchanged grinning smiley

It was built in the early 1970s and originally named ‘The County Islands’. But due to the popularity of the Children’s TV programme, it was quickly assigned the nickname ‘The Magic Roundsbout’ and Some years later, that became its official name.

It takes a degree of skill to negotiate it, which you quickly learn with regular use. The 1st time I drove my friend and fellow Scot through it, about 30 years ago, he just about shit himself winking smiley

Thank you Bjornulf. And a very proud Scot he was. As a proud Scot and Brit, I find it very grating when people treat England and the UK as synonyms. They REALLY aren't. For the uninitiated, the red, white and blue Union Flag belongs to the United Kingdom (all the blue bits represent Scotland).

The flag of England is the cross of St George. Plain white with a red cross. Thankfully, England's sports fans have wised up in recent years and taken to correctly saving the latter, when 25 years ago they usually treated the Union Flag as their own, making themselves look particularly daft when playing Scotland.
