What has happened to Micawber ? Dublin, London 1, London 2 ... and unless I'm not paying attention, Micawber is missing in action ! No sightings so far !

What's going on ?

But it seems they took away one of his most famous features: The humbucker is now facing the right way! Already noticed that during the SA tour in 2016. Wonder what the reason was for that.

Keith have used it on all three shows so far. Last year he didn't play it at all during couple of shows, not even HTW where he played the 52 "standard" tele with single coil instead. To be honest, Micawber is very much worn out, Keith have played it so much over the years.

Phew! So Micawber didn't fall out of a palm tree (or a hotel window) in the end ...

He should use his psychedelic les paul custom again.

How do you 'wear out' an electric guitar ? Honest question. From what I understand, all parts can be replaced, necks can be refurbished ... refretted even, pickups replaced, switches etc, that only really leaves the body. How can you 'wear that out' ?

Beloved guitars get taken out of rotation for repairs and the like. Neil Young gave Old Black a rest during the early part of the Greendale tour.

But when I saw Neil two years ago in the rain at Jazzfest, he played it for the entire show (handing it off to be retuned and wiped dry at every song break).

I'm surprised he still tours with what is by now a very famous and valuable instrument.

Ace that he does though.

No kidding. The 'value' of Micawber is probably incalculable these days, it has to be one of the most famous instruments in the world ...

For example you can't refret a guitar over and over forever, It's a 65 year old instrument. Sure you can change the electronics etc. but that's not an option with Micawber, Keith love that early 50s lapsteel pickup to much and it wouldnt be the same without it. The standard 52 tele was back on stage London 2 and Keith used Micawber for LSTNT and HTW.
