As for the set list, common, they already played songs never performed during No Filter 1. Don't expect from the Stones to reject a list "policy" they have in ages. Actually, in the so called "glory days" the lists were much more predictable. I saw somewhere that they played 33 different songs, yes, only 33, on the entire 1978 tour. And only 37 on the 1981 tour.

But in 2012 - 13, they played 25 - 26 different songs on the five nights in England (two O2 gigs + Glasto + two Hyde Parks). So, if you want to complain about the Stones being "too predictable", stop using expressions like "NOW the became...",or "IN THE LAST years...".

Yes, I know the counterweight: In the past there was much more variety from tour to tour, as the lists were including many songs from the (every) new album. But talking about the gigs of every tour, the lists were ABSOLUTELY predictable.

I think that most of those who complain about setlists are in fact complaining about continiously growing warhorse section.
Look at this setlist from Belgium 2007: [iorr.org] NO Miss You, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Midnight Rambler, Gimme Shelter. That leaves more space for other songs like Waiting Of A Friend, Shattered, Some Girls etc. While it's good to have MY, YCAGWYW, MR or GS in the set, I think most of the fans wouldn't mind if they were played every second or third show in rotation.

Good points, but it hadn't really been that long since they played Werchter (2003), hence they needed to shake up the setlist a bit.

The last time around they played Dublin (in 2007), they played this set:

Start Me Up
You Got Me Rocking
Rough Justice
All Down The Line
Dead Flowers
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Midnight Rambler
I'll Go Crazy
Tumbling Dice
--- Introductions
You Got The Silver (Keith)
I Wanna Hold You (Keith)
Miss You (to B-stage)
It's Only Rock'n Roll (B-stage)
Satisfaction (B-stage)
Honky Tonk Women (to main stage)
Sympathy For The Devil
Paint It Black
Jumping Jack Flash
Brown Sugar (encore)

It is so fantastic to read all tbe excitement!
They are there, they look great, they excite people, the Rolling Stones! Thanks everybody!
The only thing that changes is that it gets more difficult to read through the whiners, bit I've had bigger challenges.

Yeah, the Rolling Stones are doing a European Tour in 2018!!

But after all, how the tickets selling really bad? where LD located...did someone get Pit?

I doubled up with a mate. I got 310 lower level (as it seems a LOT of people did) and he got pit Keith's side. So naturally we went for the latter.

Great experience, and despite a setlist which was safer than I thought it would have been, the gig was superb and the whole band were rock solid. Surprisingly no rust for an opening night.

I love the outrage at the similarity in the setlists since 2013, while we seem to never tire of the same complaints after every show in the past 5 years smoking smiley

From what I've heard so far, The Worst was by far their best performance of the night. Great version.

It was really lovely. It even brought a smile out of Alexandra Richards when she was walking past me during it and I remarked to her 'the old man's not doing too bad tonight, is he?'

Did anyone happen to get a pic of the merchandise stands and what's available this tour?

Hoping to have a think about what I want before I get to London Stadium so I don't end up panic buying in the pre-gig rush!

After watching most of the excellent videos posted by Fred De Graff,
I have to say it was a pretty good show and they sound great!
Yes, the crowd seems a little subdued, but they all can't be like the Argentian fans. Love Keef's songs!
No local backup choir for YCAGWYW?
I understand the hardcore fans getting tired of the warhorse setlist, but the whining and critics have to stop. I will take what I can get these days. They are close to 80 years old and they still can ROCK!!
Be thankful for what we have here, it might be gone tomorrow.

Re: Dublin Ireland 17-May-2018 Rolling Stones No Filter live show updates

I always thought The Stones would determine the last time i saw them. But it will be me not them. I cannot justify $600 for the same songs over and over and over.

Maybe one more time...but not three like I was planning.

I cannot get excited knowing I will get one or two different songs.

For me it is really really sad.

Think of all the songs they could play that would satisfy the hard core fans and also leave the casual fan blown away.

What a missed opportunity for them.

There are too many tired songs on the setlist.

I personally cannot convince myself SFTD is ok...it is not...it is done...put a fork in it and several others.

2 Hours 24 songs...it can be done.

I would feel a little silly paying $600 or more for a ticket for the songs being played now.

I love the Stones....they are my favorite band...but enough is enough.

I got some passable shots from the rail of GA, just at the point where it bends, Ronnie’s side. It turned out to be an excellent viewing, listening and indeed socialising spot with the friendliness of the Irish a real joy.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, and at the risk of being harangued, if they dropped YCAGWYW, Midnight Rambler and Miss You that would "free up" well over 20 mins which could be filled with 6 or 7 shorter songs (maybe from a pool of a dozen - rotated each gig) and perhaps make the setlists a bit more enticing for those who want a more varied selection each night.
Just sayin'

I agree - Bjornulf’s photos from last night are amongst his very best and stand comparison with the professionals. Mine, taken from GA are above. As a little aside, anyone else notice Charlie’s quiet and classy way of paying homage to Ireland by wearing a green shirt? I doubt it’s s coincidence. When I saw them in Stockholm on 14OF he wore mid blue trousers and a yellow T shirt.

Keith. The Worst

When I was younger, certain songs had such an effect on me that the hairs on my arms would stand up whenever I heard them...
Sadly it hasn’t happened in years.

Until this.

Thank you for posting that video.

It didn't quite have the "effect on me that the hairs on my arms would stand up" but I'd say this was outstanding. Would love to see a Keith solo show even if he only played acoustic w/Ronnie adding some of his quirky nuances as he does here. As for Bernard singing, no big deal really, but he probably naturally sings louder than Keith and when he's that close to the mic it kind of overwhelms. All around it was a definite highlight, and hope he keeps it in his set. I can imagine though many took the opportunity for a piss break/beer run, but not unusual for a Keith set and it's their loss.

I just wish Bernard would do his back up vocals from where he is supposed to, Keith looked uncomfortable with Bernard breathing down his neck, but it didn't put him off. I also thought Ronnie was too load at the start of the Worst.
Nothing diminished the song though, Keith came through beautifully .

Midnight Rambler is a keeper as it shows the band at their strength with moments of improv, tempo changes, and all around great performances from all involved most of the time.
As for YCAGWYW and Miss You, yes one or the other (or both) could be rotated out occasionally to make room for some shorter songs - thereby making the setlist longer and more varied.
Imagine Live with Me and Hand of Fate instead of YCAGWYW! Or Sweet Virginia and Monkey Man instead of the extended Miss You!!! It's a win-win for everyone, even the casual fans!
As it stands, starting a tour with only 19 songs probably looks weaker on paper than it actually is when you consider the length of the three songs (MR, YCAGWYW, and Miss You), but 19 songs is only 19 songs..............

On another note, rumours of them heading to Australia next continue.....

"These dates are unlikely to be the only shows for The Rolling Stones for 2018. Australian dates are expected to be announced soon to coincide with the opening of the Stones ‘Exhibitionism’ in Sydney".

Rolling Stones

Not all tickets are $600. In fact, you can see three shows for far less than that.
